Activation problems plague iPhone debut

Recommended Posts

Easily the biggest glitch in yesterday's national roll-out, activation problems began lighting up message forums shortly after the iPhone went on sale at 6 p.m. "Your activation requires additional time to complete," was the error message frustrated users saw after attempting to activate. While they waited, users were unable to access any non-emergency feature of the iPhone; they quickly re-dubbed it the "iBrick."

We know you didn't post this for our personal interest and edification, but rather, to troll.

Please continue, though. It all comes out in the wash, anyway.

EDIT---------

Here's one now that we're posting articles:

A bit more balanced. Seems there were problems due to the HUGE DEMAND of this EXTREMELY DESIRABLE product. It was just too much to handle. I'm getting mine as soon as my carrier gets it. When are you getting yours?

You are so god damn annoying. He's not trolling just because he posted something you don't like.

hey, thanks for posting that and confirming what I had posted earlier.......here's a couple of quotes from the article you posted...

But Brad Bargman of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, who waited in line nine hours Friday to buy his phone, said excitement turned to dismay when the device stubbornly refused to activate, meaning it can't be used.

"It's a real buzz kill," said Bargman, adding that repeated calls to AT&T failed to get the device to work. "Now I'm soured on it a little bit."

David Clayman, the third person in line at Apple's flagship Manhattan store, said he was still unable to activate his iPhone a day later, probably because he couldn't update the Apple (Charts, Fortune 500) software on his computer needed to start the process.

by the way, a quick google search on iphone activation seems to bring up a lot of activation problems.

And?What exactly is your purpose in letting us all know there were activation problems? What's the message/opinion you're trying to convey?Chances are, it's a bit more than the simple issue of activation problems that have since been more or less resolved. So go ahead, what's REALLY on your mind? ;)

Always consider the purpose, Cosine. Read between the lines for once.

Try taking your head out of your ass. He posted news, you don't like it, so you act ignorant. If it was a post about Vista having activation problems then you would be all over like saying how Microsoft sucks. Its a $600 phone that the only somewhat cool(yet useless) feature is the ability to have 2 finger touch - OMG I CANT ZOOM A PHOTO! and people have problems even activating it....Oh and Apple claimed it can take falls 4-6Ft, and its been shown on video that a single 4ft drop spiders the screen.

I don't care WHO made the phone its no place NEAR worth $600, my brother is the biggest Apple fan I know and even he thinks its a rubbish phone for $600.

Yeah Cosine read between the lines, can't you tell LTD is a fanboy?

And?What exactly is your purpose in letting us all know there were activation problems?

there was no real intent other than to inform people what was happening with this product. You need to take a chill pill. We all know how much of a fanboy you've become but you don't have to wear it on your sleeve every single time.

    • When I was a teen, I actually believed that the government used to be always be the bad guy. However as an adult, someone who has actually seen the Law work (though not perfect). I now think everyone cries a river. In this specific case, the so called freedom has consequences to society. Anyone who has seen how child are indeed affected, and I don't mean only extreme things like getting drugs or hate crimen , but no one can deny society as a whole has gone down a rabbit hole due to exesive use of internet. Before anyone calls out that it's the parents responsibility. Yes that's true, but the reality your family/kids might be good people. There are 99% out there who are not and have been brain dead by many things on the internet.
