I'm guessing that the IRC server will invite you to the channels and your IRC client will connect to the channels automatically if invited. This is actually a bit of a security risk but I guess the Neowin server is trustable. irssi can be configured to auto join on invite too.

It uses the SAJOIN command which only certain people (chatmods and above) can access. |
