The real pictures of Windows 7

Recommended Posts

This is actually exactly what I would expect from Windows 7 in this very early stage. I believe these are genuine.

However I think the poster is taking credit for pictures he did not take, unless his real name is zhou.

There's no sidebar in Windows 7, you just right-click the desktop and choose "Add Gadget" or similar.

Honestly, I understand all of the excitement, however, I cannot confirm those are real screenshots of Windows 7. I just want to make one thing notable, in the M1 build of Longhorn, I dont recall the GUI changing from the looks of the elder Windows XP. So my theory is, why would Microsoft change the GUI bits in the M1 build, and more specifically, I understood all of the current changes in Windows 7 would be "under the hood" changes as opposed to actually changing the GUI bits a little here and there throughout the OS....

I have been reading some posts on different forums, some are saying these are fake and while there are some that say they are real. Also, WHY would the Winver dialogue have "Ultimate" there, I am pretty sure Microsoft would have dropped that acronym and simply put "Windows 7" in place of "Windows Vista Ultimate"....

A lot of what looks to be Windows 7 in the screenshots could have been created by the user whom took or otherwise manipulated Windows Vista in-order to make it look as though it be legit, athough, it would take a bit of work to do this, editing the appropriate dll's and / or MUI or hex editing... although the theme would be easy, since there is no need to run a 3rd party program to use themes on Vista... This user could have simply created the theme and other anomalies...

I don't think in this early stage there would be SKUs too like "Ultimate" ? seems too fake, but the real thing may look like that

Damnit this really annoys me. Why has everyone heard the term 'SKU' and tagged onto it and keep bleating it out like they know the hell what they're talking about?

SKU stands for STOCK KEEPING UNIT. It's a term for retailers only and has no relevance outside of a stockroom! You have no idea how stupid you sound regurgitating terms like that when you have no idea when to use them....

EDIT: elektrownik, that line is so people can hit ALT+the underlined letter to get to the option instead of clicking. As the 3rd option has L underlined, hitting ALT+L would go to option 3, option 4 has used 'r' to make it unique.

And another fake:

Why should it be under the first letter? "L" is already used with "Larger" so surely thats why "r" is used for "Largest"?

And another fake:

Im sorry but you are dead wrong with the last picture. Obviously the largest screen size cant have the same letter keyboard shortcut (real name?) that the Larger screen size does.

The very first developer release of Vista was titled Windows? XP Professional So really all they did was add in the Longhorn to the name, not much unlike removing Vista from Windows Ultimate in the OS system properties dialogs and changing it to 7 instead.:))

Remember a developer version wouldn't take too much notice in finalizing the system branding, they would be more concerned that the codename is added in.

Fake...

its under the third letter cos you dont use the same letter twice..... it shouldnt be under the first one all the time. the rule is that the same letter is not used for two options. But i agree.... they do seem slightly photoshopped.
