Windows Beta 7 Benchmarks (7048 vs 7057)

Recommended Posts

These are my personal benchmarks. No system or software changes except OS build difference.

3DMark06

7057: 15415

7048: 15296

3DMark05

7057: 20334

7048: 19824

3DMark03

7057: 46229

7048: 46195

I did bench Vantage, but forgot to save results. I can tell you 7057 is faster than 7048 for me also in Vantage. I did have builds 7000 and 7022 installed and they performed roughly the same.

In order fastest to slowest for me in the builds I have used:

7057 *Fastest

7022

7000

7048 *Slowest

I hope the results of 7057 keep getting better!

7000 and 7022 perform roughly the same as 7057? I'm confused... is 7057 a step forward in terms of performance, or was 7048 a step backwards?

Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific. 7000 and 7022 perform roughly the same in terms of performance. I don't have hard numbers for them saved. 7057 is a step up in performance from them though. 7048 is the worst build in terms of performance from my findings.

Interesting.

Somewhat on topic: I have a performance question for dual booters: I got 97.8 MB/S in HDTUNE with Windows 7 and 130 MB/S in XP. Has anyone else noticed a 25% drop in read speed from SSD/HDs in 7 compared to XP?

I think the biggest performance difference are for computers with average hardware specs, like what I am running in my sig, rather than a high-end quadcore and graphics. For me, 7000-->7048 was a huge jump and I think most people can say the same. But 7048-->7057 is still up in the air. Startup seems to be a little slower, which is reasonable to expect considering the tinkering they did with the logon wallpaper and they have not taken the time to reoptimize the code again. There does not seem to be any difference with normal computer usage like opening documents and surfing the internet. At best, maybe slightly faster. Hard to say for sure.
