It's a special offer from that company, ask them you don't want the offer and would like to remove the ad. Surely they can do that for a paying customer.

If the only ad they have is in the 'burning' window then no big deal. Now if there was an ad when the program starts and/or a small ad on the top or side of the main window then its a big deal.

The ads are even on my Works 9 provided with the computer-

However as soon as my trial of MS Office is over I will install Open Office-.

But now I can see ads in a freeware version but not when you pay 100$ for it.

My point exactly. There is no excuse for that. Why put ads when I paid for it? It's stupid and annoying.

Take a look. They are everywhere. Very annoying.

well i do agree that the ads are useless n all but if they are there you can't do anything about it so just accept it or before you take it back email cyberlink and see what they say and if they say they can't do anything then just take the software back and find a better alternative.

A lot of software produces are doing this as a way to make revenue from their software that gets highly pirated. I guarantee you that for every copy of that software they sell there is 6 being pirated. And every pirated version will contain cracks or keygens to unlock it to a full version. That is why they keep the ads in there regardless. Its the only way to make money from the pirates because no mater what they will get around the copy protection to activate it as a full legitimate version.

Not that I'm saying its right, I think its despicable especially for real paying customers to have to view ads when they pay $100 but I'm just explaining why they do it.

It's sucks, but it's only gonna get worse. It's like with PayTV (well in Australia at least) you pay a subscription and you expect no ads, yet these days PayTV is just as bad as commercial TV :s (used to be time it wasn't). I was considering getting PowerDirector, I have my reasons! but I don't think I will now...it ain't cheap and now it has ads has really put me off it. I think I'm gonna give Premiere Elements another go (last time I tried that, I wasn't that impressed and full blown Premiere Pro is over the top for my needs and too expensive!).

That makes sense, but as usual it's only screwing the paying customers. Pirates will be able to download a patch to remove the ads so in the end they are getting a better product then the paying customers do. I understand why software companies are doing this, I really do. However, there just has to be another way because it's not fair people who are decent enough to pay for the software are getting punished while the ones pirating it are getting away scott free.

EDIT: I probably should mention, they do it in PowerDVD 9 as well. However, it's not as annoying as that as it's only in the settings and I rarely go in there so it doesn't bother me so much.

Putting ads in a purchased program, regardless of whether they're for the company's own software or not, is pretty poor.

Also, that program's UI looks fugly :x

scorbing i hate to tell you but i got the same as you yet i don't see any adverts not even where your pics show them i don't see any but then i was not connected to the net so that means when you connect to the net the app downloads those adverts so if you don't want to see them block the app from gaining ALL internet access, funny as how the app only shows them when connected to internet but does not when not connected.
