SMELTN
So, I really want to stop smoking, and I am not the cold turkey kind. I smoke more for habit and the nicotine than for the pleasure thats for sure. So after talking with a few friends that have been using or have just got done using an electronic cigarette I decided to give it a try. I purchased the NJOY NPRO simply because it is sold locally at a store, and they have replacement parts and cartridges so I do not have to order parts and wait. I am the worlds worst on waiting till the last minute to try and order something, so I know I would run out and then go buy a real pack of smokes while I wait on the supplies.. NJOY is also a very good, reputable company in the e-cig market so I went with them The kit is pretty cool, it comes with all the stuff you see above (2 batteries, 5 cartridges and a charger) and they have multiple flavors to choose from. I purchased a box of 10 menthol cartridges since I am a Marlboro Menthol smoker. I must say first impressions is very good. You get the smoke or Vapor as it is called, you can inhale and exhale as normal as the cartridges contain nicotine you still get your nicotine "buzz". The tip lights up amber colored just like a real cigarette when its being puffed on and overall first impression is I am very pleased.. Has anyone here tried them? Anyone wanting to quit and thinking about giving these a shot? Let me know, I am interested in feedback since this is my first time trying them. Osiris
I just dont get how these work, batteries, cartridges, charging :s I prefer the good ole days when smoking was smoking, grooving was grooving. I think theres better ways to quit myself although these look alot cooler than the nicorette thing they have to suppliment the habit portion of quitting. Nightwind Hawk
I'm not a smoker, but I hope these catch on. In fact, I hope these must be used by law. I'm sick of smokers making it hard for everyone else to breathe in public places, restaurant patios, etc. ToneKnee 1 Share
Panacik
Not sure i see how these would help someone to stop smoking. Im an ex smoker and i know this would only prolong the cravings in my experience.

SMELTN
yeah this isn't intended to be a stop smoking tool. They are a supplement more or less, but most people I know or have read about that use them, eventually cut them out all together. It makes it much easier to quit using these. dazzy2004
Without causing too much alarm, there has been quite a bit of worry about these devices, they seem to have carcinogens etc. in them, which kind of defeats the process of switching from the regular cigarettes (although i believe it is a significantly lower concentrations).... article : http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/electronic-cigarette-smokers-warned-of-chemical-dangers-1761479.html Personally, I've never smoked but work with people who run smoking cessation services and would recommend you stick with the patches for quitting.... Its an interesting concept, if they could get it right....and would be a great alternative for the health service for people who just don't want to quit...obviously the price and availability are all going to be factors. Yeah I checked on that, and come to find out it was some company from China that was importing these containing the diethylene glycol. The US based companies are using Propylene glycol or PG Propylene glycol is used: As a solvent in many pharmaceuticals, including oral, injectable and topical formulations. Notably, diazepam, which is insoluble in water, uses propylene glycol as its solvent in its clinical, injectable form.[5] As a humectant food additive, labeled as E number E1520 As an emulsification agent in Angostura and orange bitters As a moisturizer in medicines, cosmetics, food, toothpaste, mouth wash, and tobacco products As a carrier in fragrance oils As an ingredient in massage oils In hand sanitizers, antibacterial lotions, and saline solutions In smoke machines to make artificial smoke for use in firefighters' training and theatrical productions In electronic cigarettes, it is used to deliver vaporized nicotine As a solvent for food colors and flavorings As an ingredient, along with wax and gelatin, in the production of paintballs As a moisture stabilizer (humectant) for snus (Swedish style snuff). As a cooling agent for beer and wine glycol jacketed fermentation tanks As a less-toxic antifreeze in solar water heating systems As a solvent used in mixing photographic chemicals, such as film developers In cryonics As a working fluid in hydraulic presses As a coolant in liquid cooling systems To regulate humidity in a cigar humidor As the killing and preserving agent in pitfall traps, usually used to capture ground beetles As an additive to pipe tobacco to prevent dehydration. To treat livestock ketosis As the main ingredient in deodorant sticks. To de-ice aircraft.[6] So as you can see yes it is used in antifreeze and such, but it is used in some other foods also. I mean you will find that there are a lot of bad things in everything we eat/drink now days.
techbeck
My sister just got one from http://www.blucigs.com. She loves it as she isnt breathing in all the crap that real cigs have. I also know a few people who quit smoking because of them. I heard the Government is trying to regulate/tax these tho as they are calling it a tobacco product. BillDozer357
I wouldn't be surprised if these were just as bad as regular cigarettes, but we just don't know it yet. How long did humans go while thinking regular cigarettes were harmless? Hell, how long were people told that they were actually healthy for you? What if the manufacturers are just repeating history? techbeck
I believe the purpose of e-cigs is to replace the real ones. Anyone using an e-cig as a replacement for normal smoking is defeating the purpose IMO. My sister bought the normal strength e-cigs for now. The next cartridges she buys will be a lower dosage...she will do this until there is no nicotine at all and eventually quit. I have seen a few people so far quit on this. Of course the e-cigs are not 100% safe. But people I know have quit in 6 months and then dont use them anymore. Considering all the toxic chemicals in normal cigs, this isnt bad at all. MY sis got her ecigs here...http://www.blucigs.com/ Comes with 2 batteries, 2 chargers, and 25 cartridges for $60. Each cartridge is like 15-20 cigs. I just dont get how these work, batteries, cartridges, charging :s I prefer the good ole days when smoking was smoking, grooving was grooving. I think theres better ways to quit myself although these look alot cooler than the nicorette thing they have to suppliment the habit portion of quitting. And people dieing...inconsiderate smokers stinking up the place...blowing smoke in the face of others....yea, good times.
McCordRm
I don't know if my Sig has been showing up properly, but it's referring to the fact that I quit cigs by switching to E-Cigs. I'm not using a "commercial" product like N-Joy because of the high cost-over-time. I'm using a Mod called "The Chuck" and freakin' loving it. Right now I'm at work, but when I get home I'll try to remember to come back and post pics, etc. Also, I'll post info on the product I'm using and the site I hang out at with LOTS of info on E-cigs. If you think Modding computers is kewl, you should definitely check out the E-Cig scene.
McCordRm
*** Ok, how the hell do I not have permission to edit my own post? I clicked EDIT, added the below lines, and then it wouldn't save the changes. I refreshed the page and the EDIT button was missing. *** P.S. A couple of FACTS based on personal usage. 1. My sense of smell is back. You have NO idea how stunted your senses are while smoking until you quit. 2. My sense of taste is back. Same as above. 3. I can breath easier. I consider myself in great shape being in the military... yet still, the difference is greatly noticable. 4. I don't stink. See #1. Also, talk to the friends and co-workers... they can vouch. 5. I have to start watching what I eat... my appetite is back with a vengeance. 6. I'm not spending $6 a day on cigs. Yay! 7. The military dentist noticed the difference and commented that he could tell I quit smoking. 8. In a couple of months, I'll be able to tell the military and insurance company that I'm a non-smoker. yay! So are E-cigs as "safe" as not smoking at all? Nope, probably not. But even in the short time I've been "vaping", I, and others, have noticed a SIGNIFICANT improvement in overall health and healing.
