Tried making you own high resolution image smaller and then checking the quality

it might be because you have automatic resizing on?...go to internet options-->advanced and uncheck enable automatic image resizing

Wow, that is a problem. I hope you find a fix ... maybe some hardware video problem?

I have no clue what could be causing this. It's a shame too because I have been considering purchasing this very same model. If you find a solution please let me know.
davemania
are you using 32 bit colour ?
Jazza
It's a registy fix

Found this over at the Dell Support forums

It can be solved by setting or adding the registry entry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\UseHR

to

hex 0

Internet Explorer will not distort the images anymore, but the page composition might suffer a bit.

To be sure the change kicks in, log out and log in again, since the ie libraries need to be reloaded.
