Ok please dont flame me for this, unsure.gif im just curious.
I know one member Neyo, has a G4 Cube. But i am wondering are they still good spec wise
compared to a e-mac ?.. also do they still exist i live in the U.K. and cant find one for blood.
maybe im just looking wrong ? Or am i purely waisting my time. pinch.gif

They are slower, but you can get a 1ghz cpu upgrade making them decent...

If you want a faster computer, get tthe emac though wink.gif

NeoMayhem Do you know if you can still purchase these macintosh machines ?
SPeedY_B
they are no longer in production, so new/un-used models would be near impossible to find, you may find one on eBay (yeck, I know) though.

I got one off of Ebay. It was a really good machine, but I just needed more speed. So now I have a 15" PowerBook. I still own my Cube though, and use it to do any PageMaker work because I refuse to install any Classic applications that aren't needed on this machine. tongue.gif

Yeah.. I think eBay would probably be a good bet for a G4 Cube.

They are darn cool machines smile.gif

Personally, I'd get the eMac. They look just as good, and you'll have to waste some desk space on a monitor in either case.

emac look just as good as a cube? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! and I'm spent.

i would love a cube... but i won't get one just yet if i was u, because there are rumors that apple will release cube-like imacs in early 2004...
xrm
Well I'm sure they won't let January 24th pass without anything special to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Macintosh launch....

on another note I had a weird dream that I bought a 15" Powerbook last night... among other things. Oh dear.

Except with a Cube you could use an LCD. Even if he doesn't own one right now, he could always upgrade later. With the eMac, you are kinda stuck.

On a lot of websites, the rumour is either:
- iMac (with a metal appearance base)
- iMac (with a cube factor)

They are both rumours, and we won't know for 100% fact until Jan 24th sad.gif

Shaye do refurb ones in the uk: http://shaye.co.uk/
I think they take low profile agp graphics cards, so maybe a Ati 9600 might fit, there are some low profile ones about.

What would you use your Cube for? have you used a Mac before?
Of course a G4 isn't the FASTEST machine in the world... But if you pack it with a Gb of RAM, or max it even @ 1.5G, it's noticeably different from the stock 64mb it shipped with! ... CPU speed isn't everything, unless your application requires it. So in reality, what would you being on it? You have to realize, that you a pay a above average rate, to join the exclusive Cube Owners Club happy.gif - and yet you don't get the Bang for Buck people speak of. Instead you get that silent, good looking machine, which is actually still quite expandable... The point would be, in short, Specs aren't watch get with Cube's, its quite something other - which is what probably drew to them, initially anyhow! wink.gif
