As an early Xmas gift i got a 20 Gig ipod biggrin.gif , now i placed my 7 or so Gigs of mp3s in my ipod then i turned off the auto sync and made it manual sync. Since i have a smal lHD and i rater use it for other things than mp3s in this powerbook i erased all the mp3s (i have a back up in my pc) and im currently listenin my mp3s from my ipod only. Now will this hurt the ipod after some time of long music sessions? Can any guys out there help me out here..thanx alot guys.

Of course usage will be increased, but in that case, you'd never drive your car, either! Radish is right ... and its a bloody costly door stop. Enjoy your iPod...

I think what he is asking about is using the iPod as a jukebox through itunes and not just playing mp3's through headphones.

Yes, it does put a little extra stress on the iPod. Apple themselves have suggested dismounting it when you are charging it for this reason. However, it was meant for it and you should not need to worry about it at all. Just make sure that the backlight on the iPod is off and keep it in a cool place.

There are some really good articles of why this happens over at the ipodlounge dot com. I suggest you check there and ask in their forums if you still do not understand.

don't worry about it too much. enjoy the damn thing.
evn.
The iPod has a fully tested 1.5" hard disk - identical to the ones you find in some sub-notebooks. You _could_ use it for a system disk but it's terribly slow. To just stream mp3s from it's not really an issue.
