Hello,
I’m looking for someone interested in creating a Winamp skin with me. I’ve always wanted to make one but I lack the skill needed to do the programming. I’m an accomplished graphics and interface designer so the task should be a rather easy one. I’d like to collaborate with a programmer who has good communication skills, excellent time management skills, free time, and the ability to become dedicated to the project.
I’ll need instructions on how to specifically design the skin so that it can be programmed and implemented into the program seamlessly without any errors. I’ve already begun working on the basic structure (framework) of what the skin will look like. It’s a unique shape so it will require the ability to be transparent.

More details may be furnished upon request. For anyone who’s interested, email mason@masongalindo.com or IM masongalindo on AIM.

I miiiight be interested. I've always wanted to create a Winamp 3/5 skin, but I'm not too good at interface design. I haven't created a Winamp 3/5 skin before but I have dug through the coding of a skin and it's not too hard, I'm reasonably confident that I'll be able to program whatever function you require.
Not sure if I have the spare time though, as Christmas is nearly here I've got a lot of family coming. What kind of timeframe were you looking at, stoavio?

BananaMan,

I’m in no hurry. Your role in this project won’t require that you even have any skill in interface design. I’ll be designing the interface and you’d be helping me implement it. I’m very interested to discuss this with you further. Just to let you know, this isn’t a basic Winamp skin. It’s going to require a bit more than just editing the basic skin.xml file to make it operational. Because of it’s unique and unusual shape, there may be slight usability issues so we’re going to have to limit it’s functions. Since Winamp 5 utilizes the same skinning engine that Winamp 3 uses, this skin should be compatible with both versions.

I’ve included a teaser of what the skin is going to look like. As you can see, it’s a very original and unusual design. It will have several color schemes and all of the basic functions a standard Winamp skin has. I don’t think I’ll be skinning the media library, mini-browser, or equalizer panel (again because of it’s limited usability). This is my first Winamp skin as well so I’m trying to stick to the basics and fundamentals. If you’re still interested, you may contact me via email at mason@masongalindo.com or on AIM: masongalindo

By the way, the teaser above is after only two days of work. The image is highly compressed to reduce loading times. It is FAR from complete!

I really appreciate that guys! This is a very friendly community and I'm grateful to be apart of it. The words of encouragement are great! I hope we have a programmer sign on soon because I'm making quick work of the skin wink.gif
