I'm for the Pats.

im with this! Everybody rooting for an overrated or great team when underdogs have been winning and beating good teams on the road to superbowl?
Go panthers! here comes one more upset! gotta love the upsets!
BroChaos
Jan 19 2004, 03:18
hey, i'm all for upsets. this will be like when the pats were the underdogs against the rams. except, weren't the pats kinda underdogs too? if it wasn't for the weather, everyone figured manning and crew to roll.
the pats play my kinda football. ball control, an offense that plays within themselves, and a strong defense that holds everything together. oh, and good special teams play too.

I'm rooting for the Panthers. I've been a fan ever since they came in as an expansion team so long ago.

Jan 19 2004, 03:27
This is going to be the worst Super Bowl ever. Well, maybe 2nd worst ... that Giants vs Ravens game was pretty bad too. Patriots are going to roll all over the Panthers ... the Patriots have a good rush defense and Delhomme will be demolished by Law & Poole. The young DBacks of the Panthers will get torched by a healthy Brady... No contest, man.

the Patriots have kinda done a role reversal here. 2 years ago they entered the superbowl as heavy underdogs to a dominant team that won the superbowl 2 years before, the rams. Now, the Panthers enter the superbowl as heavy underdogs to a dominant team that won the superbowl 2 years ago, the Patrioits. Will history repeat itself? i hope so. Carolina reminds me a lot of the '98 Falcons, a team that came out of nowhere to make it to the superbowl, although the falcons kinda sucked it up in the superbowl

This was the Super Bowl match-up I was hoping for. And it happened! Anyway, I want the Patriots to win, although if the Panthers win, it won't be too bad. I'm just glad the Colts, Rams, Chiefs, and Eagles aren't there. Nobody gave the Panthers a chance (especially that Eagles fan that keeps posting here saying Carolina sucks...???) and the talk all year long in the AFC was the Chiefs then the Colts.
It's about time these two TEAMS get some respect. What's great is neither team has a true super star. And these are the two best coaches in the game right now. Let's get it on!

heh I was born in North Carolina, only lived there for 3 years, I have now been in Boston for 6 years. The other gap was spent in California.
Hopefully gthe game will be exciting.

um... i hope you don't forget panthers' stephen davis. he is one of the big reasons why panthers have such a good running game and partly the reason for them going to playoffs and beyond.
i just wish davis was still with the skins under gibbs II era

Nah, of course I wouldn't forget him. Like I said, though, "Super Stars". He's a blue collar player, week in week out and hardly gets the attention he deserves. Whereas, some players can get like 40 yards on 25 carries or 2 catches for 38 yards and still get mentioned.
But, I think Carolina has shown against the Eagles and against the Rams that they are a team. Davis got hurt, plug Foster in, and the offense still runs.

Why so many Pats haters? Everyone must be jealous. Quite simply, if the Pats don't win, everyone in Boston will go flat out insane with both of their major teams losing in the post season.

Jan 19 2004, 08:11
Go 49ers!! Haha, maybe two more years, IF they keep Julian Peterson.
And I don't think it's a matter of people hating the Patriots. I think it's more of a WTF? matter. I swear, everytime you see the Rams or Eagles or Chiefs win, everyone thinks they are the best team in the NFL. Nevermind that the Patriots won like 13-14 in a row. And nevermind the Panthers have had one of the most consistant offenses through the whole year. All this goes back to my view on sports and the media: it sucks. It's all style over substance.

go panthers i guess.
Anyone still think McNabb is slightly overrated? 3 Big games in a row. No dice.
hehe...Just adding some spice to the thread.

Jan 19 2004, 14:22
hey. he WAS on the bench in the fourth quarter though. i mean, his line sucked. his receivers sucked.
cant blame this one on mcnabb other than the 3 pickles, and i think 1 or 2 of them was miscommunication which you could blame on both him and the wr.

It has been confirmed that the Indy Recievers have made it back to Indy, there were reports that the Pat's Secondary were still (not) called for holding even hours after the Game. Preventing them from even getting to the Locker Room...
When asked about the Backfield Judge about the Serious LACK of "Holding" calls after the game, he was quoted as saying "There was a game today?".
We're not bitter, we beat ourselves NO Question. We had a good run, Officials had an even worse game than the Colts... We will get em next year...
Panthers.... ANYBODY but the Pat's...

Being from the New England area, I gotta go with the Patriots as well. Sooo many nail-biters this year
Both teams deserve to be there though
GO PATS!!!

From Boston, so natrually I'm a homer: GO PATS.
There will be a lot of comparisons between this year's Patriots and the 2001 Rams because the Patriots are 7 1/2 point favorites. That's where the comparisons should end. Bill Belechick is not Mike Martz, and he will not make the mistake of taking Carolina lightly.
Carolina has had some big wins, but in this streak of 14 straght wins, the Pats have beaten Philly, Dallas, Denver, Indy twice, Tenn twice, and Miami twice (all teams with 10+ wins). They also won all of the 'trap games' along the way, taking out the Texans (in OT), Jets, Bills, Jags, Giants, and Cleveland.
I find it difficult to dislike the Panthers because they remind me alot of the Patriots, but unless the Pats blow it, this will be the beginning of a Dynasty.
Should be a very interesting game to say the least. Pats D is great, but Carolina is physical. Looking forward to it!

Cats vs. Pats
I want the Panthers to win, like many people, but you've got to be seriously crazy to think they have any chance against the Patriots. The Patriots own the Panthers in offense, defense, special teams, and coaching. The Panthers shouldn't even show up.
