I was looking for Longhorn PDC Slate theme and those I found had many errors so I desided to make new. This should be 100% correct. U can download copy from Here.

So large... Wondering what did you put in this archive.

Bad things about slate, it looks ugly when good when it's not semi-transparant or in much darker colors.

It's 7mb unpacked, theme is 1,6mb and wallpaper 5,5mb. Theme bmp's were .png's in Longhorn so I desided to keep those like that insted of converting to bmp's.

Grea job, Joni_78! Thanks a lot! The 'theme' files (the 2k thing) seems to be corrupted: It crashes StyleXP.

.theme file is from w2k3 so it doesn't work with XP, it should be removed before loading .msstyles file, I'll fix that later.

If you want to save some bandwidth you can use Winrar. It will compresses it down to 3.13 megs

Nice to hear you like it =). I packed those with WinRAR now, also added start menu flag. I might do shellstyle when I have more time. There should be white shellstyle.dll in XP windows/system32 dir, it looks pretty much like the one in Longhorn.

how do I change the flag in the start menu button and how to change the file copying animation?

ps. the theme is awesome.

In explorer.exe you need to replace bitmap #143 to change the flag. For the file copy animation delete AVI #160 and 161 in shell32.dll. You can use Resource Hacker to do this, and to replace I usually boot into windows recovery console with Windows CD and copy the files (copy c:\windows\new\shell32.dll c:\windows\system32). Explorer.exe can also be replaced in safe mode but im not sure about shell32.dll. I'll add patched W2k3 and XP SP1 files later. Also remember that file copy animation is far from final, it's not transparent so background color only match with Slate theme.

Can someone post a screen shot or two of what the toolbars look like? My Computer or Control Panel or IE would be good. The reason is I have SP2 and can't run this Theme right now and I would like to see what the screens look like.

Added thin taskbar =). Everything perfect except start button flag needs some fixing and start button size is only correct with English version of XP/2003, might work on other languages if start button has only five letters. I'll merge thin taskbar and regular in one msstyles when everything works fine. Note that task bar isn't as thin as in some other Slate themes, Longhorn taskbar is actually only 1 px thinner that regular. Here is Screenshot from W2003 and Longhorn.

Any Slate theme EXCEPT the WindowsX one is good to me, but still WindowsX is the pioneer on all the Longhorn theme fuzz I can't complain much.

Slick! What sidebar is that? Never seen it before

I would like to point out a bug: When you go to the Add and Remove dialog box, the sidebar contains white or no text on the left.

Other than that it has been a very good theme on my machine for a good day or two.

I have downloaded the thin taksbar version but when applying the visual style the taskbar is the big version again!

That Add and Remove programs dialog box is white because windows uses shellstyle.dll from system32 directory if theme doesn't have shellstyle and that shellstyle.dll causes white Add and Remove dialog. Im currently doing Shellstyle.

If anyone is missing thin taskbar version in their language then post reply what language you would want.

Never really been a fan of slate, jade looks much better in my opinion. *pukes @ the though of panther themes*

glad to hear there's a shellstyle coming. anyway, please do us dialup users a favoru and remove that 6mb bmp image. use jpg instead, saves alot of time downloading.
