added RealTek-8139 network card driver by Eric Estabrooks

Anyone know if this is for Win32? If yes, how do we use it ninja.gif

Here's my screenie to contribute blush.gif

Nope. No networking on windows yet. Check out the developers wiki for windows networking status. http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?Networking

I tested the lastest official release (0.1.2) in Longhorn build 4074, and it was really slow. The cmd windows showed up first, but the main screen didn't even show up for a minute. (It's usually instant on XP). After that, everything seemed to slow down exponentially. I couldn't get to the Mac OSX boot screen without turning it off from boredom.

I'm not complaining, just reporting the results of my limited tests. wink.gif

LOL, your running an alpha program on an alpha OS, to try and emulate another OS tongue.gif I don't expect that to be fast anytime soon tongue.gif

good luck with that, if you get it to work and install sucessfully, let me know what you did. i have still not figured it out. (without using nero, although someone said that didn't work either)

There is a way sort of. The way I did it was I used Nero. Start a new compilation and select new CD-ROM (ISO). Then drag all the files you want to the new compilation including any DMG files. Then change the Recorder to "Image Recorder". Select burn and when the save box comes up change NRG to ISO and save it.
gamestargrinder
someone told me to drag and drop into nero. but nero doesnt read dmgs and same with winiso. I tried just changing the extenstion and looking through google. No luck so far

Is a dmg the unix version of an iso?
gamestargrinder
and i dont want to burn the image to a cd
gamestargrinder
i did it the way Colin Holywell did it and its working so far

Would it be a very smart idea to install Linux in VMWare, and then PearPC in the Linuxed VMWare? I just wanna mess around with networking support :-P.

PearPC (0.2pre) on my Athlon XP 2800+ with 512mb of RAM allocated to it runs pretty good: the mouse is slightly sluggish, apps don't launch "fast"; but in an acceptable time. I wonder how "slow" it would be running in VMWare.

So in Linux you can get network support? Time to remove 4051 from that E: partition and install Linux smile.gif.

Can anyone explain to me why this is happening?

http://www.geocities.com/starcom826/untitled.JPG

I am trying to install 10.3. I've tried both 0.1.2 and the nightly builds. This is what happens when I try to boot off the iso disc image.
JK1150
what's the best way to transfer files w/o networking support? (i haven't finished installing 10.3, so I haven't experiemented, just wanted to know)

Yeah,

Geocities doesn't allow direct linking.

I am using a USB mouse but unable to move the cursor in PearPc.
Anyone know a way around this?
phalanx126
I did what Colin Holywell said and it doesn't work, at least not for me. When I tried to boot it up it said error, can't open file. i dont think there's a way to convert .dmg to .iso w/o a mac
gamestargrinder
i did exactly what he said in nero for windows and am installing the 10.3.3 update as i speak

Howbout pushing F12, and moving your mouse? I'm using a Bluetooth mouse (via a USB Transciever) there is no issue with USB.

Yea I did that. It still wont move the cursor.
gamestargrinder
do u have usb turned on in ure config file

how do i change my name from willvg to something else or can i
gamestargrinder
i have a usb mouse it works fine, how do get both buttons and the wheel to work
wivelden
USB is turned on in the config file.
If I press F12 windows cursor dissapears so I presume the emulator takes control of it but it doesn't move the Mac cursor.
I can't get past the select language screen because of this.
Is there any keyboard keys I can use instead?
banli
I had a similar mouse problem yesterday.

Are you running windowblinds?
gamestargrinder
what kinda a mouse is it, maybe a windows driver problem or a pear pc driver problem
gamestargrinder
is there a full screen function yet

- started new compilation (iso)
- dragged .dmg file to that compilation
- changed burner to imagedrive
- clicked burn
- saved as .iso in popup window
- burned compilation

this is exactly what i did and it didn't work, please fill me in smile.gif

What is exaclty "not working". What is happening? What error message? Post more details like your config file so some one can help.

how do you get it woking???
Colin Holywell
Quote - (ubersheep @ May 24 2004, 15:43)

Works nice. Is this a hack or just a nightly build? I also had to head over to #pearpc to figure out that you need to F10 to toggle full screen mode.

i don't think you're going to get the time to be correct. as i have said before:

Quote -
one of my friends, who loves macs, and has been using for longer then i know. said that they may have made the time a lot quicker on purpose. OS X's visual effect are time based, so on a fast computer the effects look good in normal time. But in order to make the effects look like right on a machine that is as slow as PearPC they sped the time up.

Don't know if it's true or not, but it makes sense.
Bluetooth
ahh F10!! tricky! what about expose?? they should have made it like control-end or something, something that wont screw up expose...

u know what would be nice is if we could run os x as a second os and not on top of windows. Like doing dual boot linux and windows except dual boot os x and windows

gamestargrinder
i have patience ive only been waiting 4 years and trying everthing possible to get osx to run on windows. I tried Mac On linux but found out it had to be linux ppc. I tried getting osx to run on softmac that ended sadly. I was just about to but a powerbook g4 when this came out

So thank u to pearpc for saving me $3000

and also what exactly does command flush cache stub mean
gamestargrinder
does pear pc actually use my ram on the motherboard or is it using the hardrive as ram

that's been mentioned in the thread.... a search would suffice... but anyway... it has gone into sleep mode. the install is still going. leave it alone. the screen won't respond... but the setup will soon restart PearPC (exit it) and your install will be done.

it uses the memory available to windows as memory. if you have free ram, windows will give it physical ram. if you don't, then you'll get swap (HD) memory.

crap, i need to get my second HD back in my machine! i wanna test the latest builds! they look interesting smile.gif
