hey are you using konfabulator? if so, how well does it run?

Runs just as well as the rest of the system, loading widgets takes as long as it would take to do open the sys. preferences window, but after that smooth sailing smile.gif.
Works fine with me wink.gif.

Is osx103.iso the ISO file you made and are trying to mount? If not you should change that to your new ISO file.

Do a CTRL+Q or deselect everything that can be deselect on the customize screen? You can add the other stuff later.

colin holywell:

osx103.iso is the file i created with nero. it's in the pearpc directory and burned on a cd in one of my drives

when it asks for cd 2, make sure it's not doing anything and just close pearpc, then change the config to point to cd2(if you have one), start it back up again and it should resume the installer from where it left off using cd 2. if you don't have cd 2, then do as they said and deselect all of the optional packages

Maybe you should set the refresh rate to 999 that'd speed up the installtion alot, like less than 2hrs on mine.

wow i think this i gonna be one of the largest threads in neowin history except for maybe some longhorn ones
Does neowin have room on the server for a thread this large

Well anyway im almost done installing updates now gonna install software
Need internet may resort to modem
Is 2 button mouse and wheel supported yet?

Neowin's well off...if it can support the 200page monthly desktop threads, and the god-knows-how-big current song thread, this is cake tongue.gif

No 2 button mouse/wheel support yet sad.gif Ctrl+Click is fine though.

i used nero to make my dmg file into an iso, i followed the directions from a few pages back. that part worked fine. when i got into os x, i copied the dmg file to the desktop, and mounted it. i let it verify, and that was fine...so after about an hour of install the combo update, the installer stoped at 12 min (running the install script), i left it like that for more then an hour, and no it was not asleep. it seemed like it was still going, but nothing was happening. so i closed pearpc, and now os x won't boot anymore.

has anyone else had anything like this? or any ideas before i reinstall?
Acezo
Why convert the dmg into an iso? Just copy all the files you want to put in OS X in a folder, put the folder in an iso, and point it OS X to the created iso...it's what I do tongue.gif
amr_01
i tried that. i put all the files into winiso, and that would be just like making a cd with those files on it, but everytime i did that the files were corrupted. how did you do it?
Acezo
Used MagicISO, saved as ISO, pointed OS X to it, copied files to desktop and mounted them. Worked flawlessly thumbs_up.gif
amr_01
alright, i guess i will have to try that out. thanks.
amr_01
well, some good news. like i said before, after trying to run the 10.3.3 update, which failed, i was no longer able to get os x to boot. so i was messing around trying to find a way to fix it without having to reinstall, and i did. just deleted the nvram file, ran pear, and it worked perfectly. i even ended up getting the update installed. w00t.gif

Ok my install finished but now how do I boot. Everytime I boot with a CD Image in the slave it goes to preparing to install (am I supposed ot have it do that?) But dont have an image in it just closes instantly
amr_01
you can either change the boot setting in the config to select (prom_bootmethod = "select"), or change this: pci_ide0_slave_installed = 1 to
pci_ide0_slave_installed = 0

great... now it says its not bootable...

edit i did it, I was just waiting for boot to see if it worked.
amr_01
on the line #prom_env_bootargs = "", uncomment it, and put -s in the quotes, like prom_env_bootargs = "-s"
make sure it's lowercase s, then follow these instructions...hope it helps, worked for me.

1.- Once darwin has stated drop to a shell by typing "shell"
2.- Enter the "pdisk" commands
3.- As in the normal installation select type "e"
4.- Enter "/dev/disk0" as the name of the device.
5.- If you want to see how your partitions are mapped enter "p".
6.-Use r to swap partitions, you have to set the map partition as the first one (Im pretty sure that it already is the first one) and the OSX partition as the second one (it was placed third in my installation).
7.-Finally enter "w" in order to write the partition table
