-bolero

at default yea, I had to change mine because it was conflicting with something else on my network

Generally, remember that (these are assumptions that I've made from my experience today, some may not be true in every case)
1. Your Tap-win32 adapter's IP# is what OS X's "Router" should be set to
2. It has been narrowed down what OS X's DNS should actually be set to, I used those three values because they're generally router values, and they ended up working for me
3. I believe OS X's "IP Address" can be set to anything, as long as the first 3 parts of the number are the same as the first three parts of your "Router (in OSX)"/Your Tap-win32 adapter
4. Your router can't be set to 192.168.0.1. This interferes with the Tap-win32's default address OR Internet Connection Sharing (not sure yet). Try 192.168.1.1

If all else fails...Try using DHCP tongue.gif

i ahve tried DHCP, but it gives me a huugge wakced up ip address, and the network setting say in mac osx that it hs a set-assigned Ip address and the net may not work wit ha yellow caution sign

is there even a way to be sure that the internet connection sharing is working correctly between the main connection and the tap-win32 one?

go to start > run > cmd
type ipconfig

paste what you get there here (If it shows your internet IP address, you can edit that out)

i have nothing in my "network connections" labeled anything like "internet connection". i do have my "local area connections". so is there some other way to enable internet sharing without "internet connections" or is there a way to get it back. as far as i know, i've never had it during this install (about 1.2 months old). any help would be great.

Okay, in OS X try:
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.0.1
DNS (Use both these values): 24.150.160.1

bolerodan, how did you fix that previous problem?

I fixed it by Enabling Local Area Connection 2 in Network Connections.

Its the LAN connection made by the tap program... If it is disabled, you get that error.

OK i tried loading this, and it says:

CODE
[TAP-WIN32]: Enumerating TAP devices...
[TAP-WIN32]: Could not locate any installed TAP-WIN32 devices.
[IO/rtl8139] <Error> Open enetif failed: Operation not permitted

So this means I have to have a RealTek RTL8139 installed in my PC, correct? I have a few stored away in a box. Shall I install it?
Menge
no. that means you need the OpenTAP driver provided with the tutorial and the special build. it will add a virtual network connection to your pc

I hope not. I'm sure I have an Intel onboard network card.

eaglebtc: noop, you don't have to install a realtek card, just installe that openvpn win32 driver, enable ICS and you're off to go.. some minor changes in osx as well, but that's well documented.. sure you have installed the right openvpn driver and rebooted after install?

Hi guys
i followed the steps to get the network working in mac os x by installing the openvpn-2.0_beta2-install in windows, but i get this as soon as i deleted the ## on the lines of

pci_rtl8139_mac = "de:ad:ca:fe:12:34"

I DL'ed the 6Gb HDD image and installed 10.2 onto it. Everything seemed to go fine but when I reboot to the newly installed HDD, it just loops on "still waiting for root device".

I've done the boot disk fix thingy of swapping the partitions around and that didn't help.

I have however managed to install and run 10.2 successfully on my PC at home.

Any ideas?

thats the thing, how can we really tell ICS is working properly? do you have to tell ICS which other connection to share it with or do you just enable the checkboxes and it does it by itself?

Are you using the JITC version? It's faster than the regular binary. The JITC's "processor" is about 40-50 times slower than your clock speed, but the I/O is fast and the graphics can be as smooth as you want (refresh rate). So if you have a 3.0GHz Pentium 4 @ 3,000 Mhz, then your PearPC will run like a 60Mhz G3.
