Thats your problem there. You can't use the network with 10.3.4. It hasn't been solved yet. if you can get back to 10.3.3 then your network will work fine.

Networking works with 10.3.4 blink.gif

Start with the networking commented out in your config, boot OSX, delete all network cards, shutdown PPC, put networking back into your config, reboot OSX & reinstall cards.

Note to a moderator:

This topic is over 130 pages: this is a huge problem. I've read 99% of it all, but most peopel who discovered PearPC today and find this thread will NOT read all of it. There is so much to talk about with PearPC that it almost deserves its own forum.

I don't have any real good suggestions on how to remedy this. Maybe a quick fix is to close this topic, start a new one, and keep closing / starting new topics? That doesn't seem to work well for a long time period. Maybe a subforum would be good?

Anyone else wanna comment on this?
sacrecow
Sorry, none of my configs had those settings listed, Thank you.

Only way that I can think of to fix this thread would be for someone to create a guide using all the important points...there's just too much to talk about though unsure.gif
offroadaaron
i think your right Tekmaven i agree fully

Yep that would be a good idea...

Its impossible to read all this thread.

Here's 2 links to get networking working in PearPC:
http://dev.realistanew.com/win32net/
http://www.kelley.ca/pearpc/

Here's a link for PearPC Nightly Builds:
http://www.richardgoodwin.com/pearpc/

Here's a guide how to install OSX in PearPC:
http://liquid.liquidm3dia.com/ppcguide.htm

Here's a good site for info about PearPC:

Hope it'll help some people...

Change your routers IP to 192.168.1.1 or just bridge the 2 connections.

ok i even changed the net adapter to the 3com one and in os x i still get this
why wont it show the other card or delete it

I've been on this thread since day one too... I read neowin every day, browse the forums, but I don't post as often as I should :-X.

I haven't seen the current PearPC GUI for Windows (someone made one I believe)... but I'm working on one. If all goes well, I should have shots tomorrow! My plan: make it look sweet, work well, and be bug free (oh wait, thats every programmers plan :-X).

Edit: I forgot to ask.. can someone attach (or upload and link) a properly unjournaled formatted 15gb hard drive image (zipped really small biggrin.gif). I started out with a 3gb image, and well, I'm full. Is there a precedure to extend an image file? What about me adding a second image hard drive and copying/resizing partition? It would be a bummer to reinstall again.. lol
Skywing
well, im down until tomorrow morning, i tried updating to 10.3.3 and the installer crashed and killed my install, i tried deleting the nvram file as i previously heard but that did nothing, looks like ill be reinstalling tomorrow morning

You can make image files in OS X and restore them on other hard drives. You would have to backup your current 3gb one to windows over a network and then restore it later.

i need a mac user to tell how to COMPLETELY Remove all know traces of that network card in os x. Like i said even if i remove it in the config or use the 3com one nothing changes in net preferences

Maybe this is a post for the Mac forums?

Guys, if your question is about PearPC ask it here. If its about Mac OS X, ask it in the Mac forums ;-).

Why dont you try to reinstall everything...
Tap drivers, download the lastest build of PearPC, make a new config file and reinstall OSX.
Like you said before you already got networking working... it could be your windows configuration?
gamestargrinder
i guess
yea ive had all of my posts since i joined last thursday here

ive reinstalled tap drivers, new config file, new pearpc still hasnt changed

For those of us who haven't been reading the 130-odd pages of posts, can someone give a summary of what has been happening on this thread: namely, what are general success rates for installing OS X on an x86 using PearPC, and what is the user experience like (I've read a few posts, and apparently, because it is being emulated, the OS is at least 10 times slower than on a real Mac)? I would be greatful for someone giving a short summary, since I haven't had time to follow this thread in its entirety.

well im only using about 52% or of of my cpu so cool.gif

Reboot, and turn off hyperthreading. You'll see a significant performance increase (nearly double) because PearPC can now use 100% of your CPU instead of just 50%. The reason it only uses 50% is becuase PearPC is not hyperthreading-aware, and thus thinks your computer has multiple processors. It can only use one of these virtual "processors" at a time, though, and so you can't get 100% CPU usage without disabling hyperthreading.

I did it without Darwin and it worked fine! smile.gif Try borrowing your friend's copy of OSX 10.3 sometime, or go searcfh for the "exploding star" as I mentioned earlier.
