On a more 'PearPC' related front, here's a development update.

For the last few days, CVS was being reorganized (and thus no one could make any new additions). That is complete; SDL is now in CVS, however the mouse is screwed up. There has been talk of adding the 'suspend' feature, dual emulated processors (for smp machines), and writing an AGP driver for OS X on the PearPC mailing list over the last few days ;-).

Hopefully soon we'll start getting compiling + functional builds out of CVS again :-).

Wow thats freat news! biggrin.gif

Could someone please rehost an "old" working 0.3pre nightly-build? I can't get ahold of any... sad.gif

It could be fake, and why I believe that is because the image is so horribly stretched (the "OSX" image that's being 'emulated'.)
santiagomedinasaenz
Hey do you have the SDL?
phalanx126
santiago, i think it's a fake...it says it's emulating 10.3, but if you look at the menu's the windows have tabs, which panther doesn't have. panther has the little pill thingies instead.

Hi there, i got a couple of problems since last 0.3 pre,
At first, when i launch ppc with the keycompose option, it loads and stop for about 2/3sec and the dos console says [IO/PROM] <Error> currently b0rken in promboot.cc line 1012

But that's ok if i comment the line with a #.

After that when my ppc load successfuly, my mouse get very very slooow to finally crash with the dos msg : [IO/CUDA] <Warning> left: 5

What does it mean ?
Is that a wellknown problem or what ?

Here's my config file (i use the athlon optimised version)

I learned something from another very popular forum on the Internet.

1) Read the entire thread before posting. Despite what your kindergarten teacher said, you are not special. Your problem is not unique, and has probably been answered seven ways from Sunday.

2) You should not ask questions until you have a reasonably high post count, or you have been on the forums for more than one nanosecond.

3) LURK MORE.

This has been a public service announcement from your local forum watchdog. Have a nice Internet.

I'm following this thread since it's beginning and registred last month so, no it has not been answered, but it's allways nice to learn a month equal a nanosecond.
For the postcount i didnt knew.
3° Lurk more ? I don't know what you mean.

there are plenty of good install tutorials in this thread, although i used this one to install 10.3. pearpc was designed to run mac os x, see here. it takes a few minutes to boot up for me, and its very usable.

Somebody needs a refresher course in TCP/IP Networking. rolleyes.gif

A subnet is a group of computers with similar IP addresses. All the computers on my local network, for example, are on the subnet 192.168.21.xxx . This means that I have to assign them an IP address in the range of 192.168.21.1 ~ 192.168.21.254. You cannot use 0 and 255; those are reserved for routing traffic.

A subnet mask is a mathematical expression of how many IPs you plan to give out in a particular subnet. The typical mask is 255.255.255.0. Sometimes you can set them to 255.255.255.128, or .64, or .32, etc... The full explanation is very technical and way beyond the scope of this thread.

Click here for a nitfy subnet calculator that might explain it a little better.

And Webopedia.com has a nice entry for "Subnet Mask."

As for those of you who want to change your router's LAN address, the procedure will be different for each manufacturer.

The procedure is basically this: You need to access the router's configuration page by opening your browser and pointing your browser to http://192.168.x.1, where x will be your IP address "class C." Look at your own IP address to get this number. Most routers ask for a username and password at this point. If you have no idea what to do here, try admin in either the username or password fields. Or try it in both. If that doesn't work, consult your router's manual. Next, you'll be looking for the LAN configuration. You'll want to change the LAN (not WAN) address to 192.168.Z.0, where Z some number OTHER than 0, 1, or your current LAN address.

i think i no what a subnet is somehow but it doesnt need to be used in a home situation like he has used its basically splitting the network up into segments y would u need that in you house unless u have something like 50 business computer in 1 room and another 25 in another room and u want them segmented so that information doesnt cross through the network to the other subnet unless its needed confused.gif

Errrr. A subnet is a group of computers with similar IP addresses. How would you have him set up a TCP/IP network? All 4 computers here have an IP of 192.168.0.x, so they are all on the same subnet. His happen to all be on 192.168.21.x. I would imagine we both have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. I don't understand what you're not getting.
offroadaaron
i think you are talking about a totally different subject to what im talking about seeing as his ip address was 255.0.0.0 which would be a class A subnet mask confused.gif what the hell are you going on about, also how do u know he has a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, 192.168.21.x doesnt have to be a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. I was talking about i totally different thing and all you people are telling is some crap about what subnet marks and subnets are confused.gif i know what they are.

A subnet is a group of computers with similar IP addresses. uuumm no its a range of numbers so that a segment of computer using a certain range can see only that range of computer in that subnet!!!

same here with OS 10.3.4, configured as the tutorial states, but no go in safari. I even tried bridging the network instead of ICS, yet it still doesn't work. The OSX DHCP seems to picked up the IP and gateway correctly, cause if I change the gateway in ICS, the OSX DHCP also change, but still I can't load any web pages in safari. Any ideas?

1st the ppc only booted when i added a "#" to the line of "key_compose = "F11" otherwise it wont

2nd when it booted i have like half an hour waiting for the boot to the OS and this is where it get stock(1st screenshot)

and then it booted but this is waht i got besides a strange blueish color(2nd screenshot)

any resolution to this, ill be happy to accept it

Actually all that Tiger requires that is different from Panther is a FireWire port and a DVD-drive.

same here, I had to disable key compose also.
As for the blue color, use ppc_start_resolution = "800x600x32", that should take care of it.
also prom_bootmethod = "auto", seems "select" won't work im 0.3.
And lastly, disable the cdrom, someone said it stopped working in 0.3.. ;\
another bug is F12 is whacked now, cusor gets stuck in OSX. Use Ctrl-Alt-Del to get your cursor back to windows.
but good news is clock is fix and supposedly you can run at full screen and higher resolution.
