After reading those last threads, I've got the feeling os x is running pretty smooth on the newest PearPC version. I just discovered this thread and I'm just dying to try this out.

Too bad school restarts tomorrow no.gif
[right][snapback]585465467[/snapback][/right]

yea, i posted this in another thread, but set your redraw to 10
redraw_interval_msec = 10
you should have a P4 2.6GHz or above really to make this work while keeping your computer stable, but it really runs great.
iomega
just curious ..how fast does MacOSX run on the PC
ZZOOzzoo
Wait, is that another OSX emulating software released yet?

I think it's called CherryPC or BananaPC.

It caused a lot of flame last year and then... wacko.gif
raid517
CherrOS Was just a rip off of PearPC. The guy took a load of people's money and then never released squat. (Beyond a few screenshots).

Don't be tricked into buying it.

On another note... Where can I download Darwin for PPC in ISO format? I downloaded one image and it turned out to be in some weird .cdr format.

Don't worry.

I'm not crazy enough just to purchase OSX and CherryOS to try slow-as-hell emulation.
iomega
I got it running but I want more disk space...
is it possible to Increase the PearPC Hard Disk Image Size
raid517
Yes it is. Just download the 6GB image instead of the 3GB one. What i want to know though, is how do you change CDs? My PearPC quits the install after finishing with the first CD - then when I reboot it it asks for the second CD - but if I point PearPC to the second CD in my PearPC config file, PearPC refuses to start. How did you guys get over this?

GJ
raid517
Never mind... I figured it out. You just have to change

CODE
prom_bootmethod = "auto"

to

CODE
prom_bootmethod = "select"

in pearpc config before you reboot it again. and then choose to boot from the harddisk instead of the CDROM drive. Just like in Windows, if you select the wrong drive to boot from, quite often it will not work. Simple really...

Oh... and you can geta 20GB image from here.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to increase the memory to 256MB...

GJ
hornett
^^ Change the memory_size property to this:
CODE

memory_size = 0x10000000

Anybody have a link to the networking guide? The only one I can find is http://www.realistanew.com/win32net/ but it's 404'd. Unfortunatley the google mirror doesn't show the images.

You friend's network setup guide is a bit lapse. All he says for the OS X setup side is 'if the address is there and it works, "that's great". He doesn't mention the default gateway, or the router address, or the preferred DNS - or what to do if the IP address isn't somehow just magicaly there?

Nor is he very clear on the sections covering how to configure CCProxy.

I'm finding it a bit hard to follow to be honest.

Well. I can say nothing about it because I don't really have trouble with his guide. and 1 thing. he is Super Moderator for PearPC.net. You can also ask his help at PearPC.net

I got a sweet PearPC deal running on my Alienware. Check the specs in my sig.

Here is my Screenie, it runs a little choppy when loading stuff, but other than that it's not too bad performance-wise.

My PearPC Computer

From what I hear, I am getting a pretty good CPU speed in PearPC.

I am using the most current Win32 JIT version, and G3 Emulation.

Be careful if you copy my config, because I have it set for 512MB RAM.

Here is my Config:

Yesterday ive tested CherryOS on my system, and i have to say its not what i expected.
I was expecting a VMWare like program that emulates G4 systems.
But its nothing like that, instead its an crappy version of the stolen PearPC source with an GUI that doesn't works/looks good.
It runs Mac OS X pretty smooth but without sound and lots of the promised features are missing.
So if you wan't to try Mac OS X on your x86 system try PearPC because CherryOS is exactly the same but with an GUI sick.gif

I'm having video problems, some of the pictures wouldn't load during the install process and once OSX boots, I can't see the dock images, minimize, close buttons, etc.

Anyone had this experience?
EDIT: Appears it's a problem with using osx 10.1 and the pre .4 version allows it to work.

Yes, that was the first post, and most likely had been no future posts untill there had been a Mac version of MorphOS, if it hadn't been for you and Jstphish. The message was posted here only for a posts made by sanderg14 and Hilloki made earlier on this really long thread, as we don't want generate more references to the old site, so I didn't quote.

When it comes to opinion about MorphOS, I think you should try it out. It's still under development, so it will change a lot.

"The pits in CherryOS"
http://www.drunkenblog.com/drunkenblog-archives/000501.html
-Updated 2005.03.15

"There's been a lot of buzz about Cherry OS lately -- since they started actually selling their product -- but there are some real pits in Cherry OS, and the people behind it (MXS), that aren't getting enough attention.

This isn't about nitpicking marketing claims, we're going to be breaking down some really uncool stuff involving taking GPL-based code from PearPC (among other projects) and completely false performance claims being used to get people to hand over their cash."
...

Also, Daniel Foesch, PearPC AltiVec developer, has updated his code to thoroughly trounce any speed claim made by CherryOS yes.gif.
http://starport.dnsalias.net/index.php?show=article&id=348

Daniel also interviewed CherryOS "programmer" Arben Kryeziu by phone (prepare to amazed at how blatant this company is) realmad.gif :
