is it enough to have 1st cd, or you need all 3 cd's to install?

if you'd bought it, you wouldn't have to worry about it, warez boy

i thought x86 can be 16,32,64

How do you figure anyone NEEDS OS X? or a mac period. when was the last time you bought or downloaded a piece of software only to find out that "dang, this only runs on MACS, i guess i NEED a mac!"

all i'm saying is that MAC user's are very limited as to what software they can run and what the can do with their machines. Sorry, but if you want to argue that point, you are a complete fool.

Sorry, but you're an ass, and you're wrong.

Every single anti-Mac statement made all over the net since this emulator came out sounds like propoganda from the mid-90's.

Mac users are NOT limited by anything except games. That's it. A few years ago it was real bad, but since the UNIX apps have been ported, there's been an EXPLOSION of Mac software out on the market. You don't seem to understand what a brilliant idea it was for Apple to adopt UNIX, do you?

I'd like to see you pull iDVD, iMovie, and all the other cool Apple apps out of your ass for Windows.

Why are you even here in this thread?

Is networking dead? I saw in the config file that it said something like "Doesn't work on Windows" but I want to be sure.

Mike

Networking only works on Linux.
OS X doesn't really stay up long enough to take advantage of it anyway.

It is great that you like a mac so much, but don't act like there are no good applications on Windows. Fine you have iDVD, iMovie and alot of other iStuff, but frankly I am not impressed by much of those apps.
We on Windows also have PowerDVD, Winamp, Picasa, Premiere... etc, etc, etc.

500 times slower......I'll pass.

If you use the JITC version, it is only 40x slower.
Starman
I never said there were NO apps for Windows. Duh. Where are the FREE apps that come with Windows that hold a candle to Apple's iApps?

You have PowerDVD. Costs money. We have a built-in DVD player.
You have WinAmp. Why even use it if you have iTunes?
Premiere? You have to pay for that, too.

etc etc etc

As for everything ELSE, we have just as many cool apps now as Windows does. I challenge you to find something different.

But we don't have spyware biggrin.gif

That's a shame. I was hoping to rung OS X Server with this and actually have it work. I'm sure they'll get it working at some point.

Well, i'm not going to point out the obvious things like there ARE free apps equivalent to those you mentioned bundled free with windows... Media Player (DVD's and Mp3's, CD's etc.) Premiere... well, we have Paint *cough*

..but what is reaaaaally ****ing me off is the fact that Microsoft get taken to court for being a monolopy in the software market by bundling apps.. and Apple can get away with it.

Does that seem right?

One rule for all, thats what I say. And besides I happen to think it's bloody BS in the first place.. it's legitimate business ethics.. Microsoft created their OS.. they have every god given right to put whatever software they own into it... damn str8!!!

Grrr.. now I'm mad! realmad.gif

Installed Darwin. How do I login to it?
Starman
root?
volrathxp
Login as root, no password, and then passwd and set a root password once you login.

I know. I'm laughing, too, but it makes me sad. whistle.gif

seems so... i can't even boot off my 10.2 cd images, i keep getting that DiskArbStart() error, and i've tried a couple things people have mentioned in here (using isobuster, alcohol, etc.)

I've even tried that gemulator explorer and it doesn't pick up my DVD drive. blink.gif blink.gif

But darwin works perfectly!

No, it's for Linux and WinXP.

Mike
fukachu
it runs on linux and xp. so it could be either i guess
Veiva
It is for Linux and Windows.

The JITC is so much faster! I installed Mandrake PPC just to see how good it is. I wonder if VirtualPC or VMWare will now implment PPC?
Rahul
guys i heard somewhere that this thing is awfully slow even on fast pcs its like , itll take abt 30 min just to boot up even on pcs like p4 3.02 ghz
Starman
Ok, how about some timings?

These are from my system last night:

Pentium 4 2.53 GHz
ATI Radeon 9700
1 GB RAM
Windows XP JIT version

'Boot' time: 12:03
First GUI: 12:06
Select disk to install on: 12:09

I couldn't get past this point. I'll try again when I get home.

I finally got it to install on the 6gib img file and I let it run overnight. It finished the install this morning and then said it needed to restart. The screen said restarting and then the program quit. So I am assuming that the OS got installed, but how do I get it to boot from the .img file? I have tried all of the different boot methods in the config file but it keeps on telling me that the apple partition is not bootable. Anyone know what is going on?

What format is the partition you are extracting it to? If it is FAT32 then thats your problem.... FAT32 only supports files up to 4GB in size. Try extracting it to a NTFS partition.
Nomisdk
arh ok it is a fat32 biggrin.gif

i try one my ntfs then.
mrvc
Do you have more than one partition in your hd? My system drive at the moment has only like 2 GB free space and when I tried extracting the 3GB file to another drive with like 4GB free space the img file ended up to be about 2GB.

I installed Darwin on school computer btw

I used winrar to extract the file. I think everyone is right with the NTFS. Thats what I am using.

They arent providing the Panther images, it doesnt even emulate Apple hardware, it emulates PPC, which just so happens is the same architecture that Apple runs on, you can install PPC Linux,

Apple cant do anything to shut PearPC down,

Use your brain before engaging your fingers.
volrathxp
man this thing doesn't wanna work with 10.2... lol

I've tried Blindwrite, Alcohol, Isobuster, Gemulator Explorer, and everything else under the sun and i'm still getting that darn DiskArbStart()... I'm giving up on this, maybe when a newer version comes out. shifty.gif

I am using my brain. If this software allows users to violate Apple's license agreement, they have every right to shut it down.

Why is everyone so f*cking obnoxious?
