And if you put a very high redraw interval value (in ms), it refreshes the display less often, but speeds up dramatically the cpu/mem/hd side of things.
It makes it very slugglish to use, BUT makes it much faster to boot!
I'd suggest using like 600 (if not higher) for the first long install, then 50 (if not lower) to play with the emulator once OSX is installed... and impress your mates!
Cheers,

can someone post a compile of the new cvs?
@leo:
After you run Darwin a first time to make the partition, you must boot darwin one more time.
Where you entered 'shell' the last time, you have to enter 1 (hit Enter) and afterward type 0 (and hit Enter). Then Darwin would create the bootable partitions. When Darwin starts to install, you can shut down PPC and reboot it with the OS-X installation iso.
Good night

Hmmm..something like "Installing Administrator Utilities" or something like that. I think I posted it in this thread yesterday.

I can run iPhoto and iTunes, albeit not fast and can't do much with em but I can definitely move around the desktop and do stuff.
You can use iTunes and stuff and I can get beat at a game of Chess (albeit, I wasn't really trying too hard, not that it would have made a difference!)

i never had to do that.
I just booted off the 10.2 isos and used disk utility to create my partition and setup the disk.

I am really thinking about buying mac os x but I want to try it first. Should i go to a friend who has it (legally) and try it on their computer? I think that by the time i buy os x that a new verson of the emulator will be out for me to play with.

Installed CD1 and also used Disk Manager to format the "hard drive".
Upon "reboot", the system could not boot from the "hard drive".
I suppose this means you really DO need to format the "hard drive" with Darwin.

@XP-Viper: You have to make a change in your Config-File, so that PPC isn't booting automatically from the first device. Search the line:
CODE
prom_bootmethod = "auto"
and change it into "select". So when you reboot you can choose the corect partition...
@Starman: Yes, I suppose too. All these, which have installed OS X without Darwin would have problems, when they want to reboot

OK im having a problem, I formatted using teh disk utility and i get this. I think I know the problem but not sure. Ill try to fix it.
Same problem as the problems above...
You have to use Darwin first. On the PearPC site, there is a short complete docu of what you have to do.

Considering the emulator is only version 0.1, id say no.
@Liquid: There is another step: After making the partition and shutdown darwin, you have to activate the partition... So you mus reboot Darwin again and type where you hit 'shell' last time 1 and on the next step 0
After creating the partition you can shutdown and install OS X. This should be work.

I am using the Disk Utility as most of the sucessful installs are using the Disk Utility

OK I am installing OSX now, all I did is restart like a previous member said. There is absolutly no need for darwin. DO NOT WASTE YOUR BANDWITH.

Do I need CD 2?
First I tried it whitout darwin, but I could not install, because the formatted partition (with the partition manager of the installation) was not bootable... So give a message, if you got it installed AND rebooted without darwin.
EDIT: Yes, you need it for the language files. And if you install apps you need it too.

Ok heres what I did, I formatted with teh disk utility, and I got the message so i closed pearpc and rebooted and it said it was bootable. Odd but its working
That's really funny. When you start ppc, there is a short moment where you see the bootable partitions... The IMG would only be bootable, if its listed there. I got it to install too wthout darwin, but it was not shown in the boot-menu... so it would not work... but I hope for you, it will work...

Now you have to wait a while.
