Hows the MX900 game compared to the MX700 is there a latency with blue tooth?
Dazzla
It seems identical, i.e. flawless. I've not had a problem with it, I've not gamed with it yet, that's on my ToDo list biggrin.gif but it's insanely accurate in stuff like PS.

One thing i don't like on the KB is the size of the keys. Shift, enter and backspace are too small.

I don't use the pad much...i wanted a small keyboard, but i would have liked some bigger Shift, enter and backspace keys wink.gif
Dazzla
The thing that's alien to me is the Delete layout, I've been used to using the MS keyboard layout which is abnormal. The logitech layout seems more logical, it'll just take me getting used to it. As for the smaller keys, none of the effet me apart from the backspace key, I've found myself hitting = a few times so far biggrin.gif The shift and enter feel fine though.

and I think you also got the Dell 2001FP there?

ahhh... someone is rich AHHH... me envy...
Dazzla
Yup, I reviewed that in this forum as well happy.gif

can you use the media pad for games and just set the numbers as "wasd" it would save some desk space for me since i need most of it for the mouse to play.
FatCat
that is beutiful , do you have a link to were I can find the awesome pc case you are using?
Dazzla
It's a Coolermaster 111C, unfortunately Coolermaster discontinued the majority of their range realmad.gif I went through hell to get this case noexpression.gif

Then the ATC design team left Coolermaster noexpression.gif They've got their own case company now. The difference with my case being that it's had all the fans replaced with Ys Tech silent fans and there's Akasa sound proofing inside biggrin.gif I've also got 2 side panels, windowed and without window. All the former ATC design team left and created:

What are you doing with 2 extra MX700s??? I have one myself and am reluctant to part with it (was either a birthday or christmas gift from my daddy). But I can dump this decent logitech keyboard in a second for laptop-type keys.

How are those Logitech speakers doing for you? I have a cheap midiland 4.1 setup and want to cut down on the wireage and fugliness esp. with college life coming up in a few months.

And what model is that CoolerMaster case of yours? Does it work well as far as insulation and keeping the fan noise to minimum? I'm shopping around for one so any suggestions would be nice. Thanks.

I had a MS Bluetooth and I thought the same caos I'm getting a 6230 but the battries eating away is a bitch so I decided to sell and just buy a bluetooth dondle and wired keyboard/mouse

Hows the battery life on that and how many battries does it use?
Dazzla
4 AA for the keyboard, 2 AA for the Media pad, 2 AA rechargable for the mouse. I've got a friend who's had it for about 4 months and the batteries are still going on the keyboard and media pad.

The speakers are quality so far, I've not had any problems with them and they've impressed me hell of a lot. Perhaps a review in the future biggrin.gif

The case I spoke about a few posts above, it's dead silent thanks to the sound proofing, low RPM silent fans and Cool 'n' Quiet on the AMD64.

Thought I'd answer a few questions on this seeing as I've had the keyboard for a few months now. Battery life is fantastic, 4 months and batteries on keyboard and media pad are still showing up as full.
I've not noticed any difference between the MX900 and a corded mouse for gaming, perfect for everything I've used, can't compare it to the MX700 however seeing as I've never tried it, but I don't see how it could improve over perfect.
In regard to the connection problems, I had problems when the microsoft bluetooth support patch was installed, I can't recall the patch number though, sorry. The logitech drivers worked perfectly though, never had a connection problem since I removed the MS patch.
I reckon you could use the media pad to reconfigure the control keys for games, haven't tried it but I wouldn't think there would be a problem.

What's that mousepas? I need one like that smile.gif

Those of you that sometimes forget to cradle the mouse for re-charge may want to change the stock 1800mAh batteries with 2400mAh.

I've had this setup the day it became available and its awesome. Connections problems are due to the fact that people fail nto use the supplied software.

I was thinking about getting a bluetooth keyboard and mouse...does anyone know if you still need to use the little USB bluetooth module if you have built-in bluetooth? I'm guessing no but i thought i'd ask...

I just found out that I get 40% off on all merchandise the company i work for deals in and that list includes logitech! So I totally might get a set!

I've got a MX 700 for about 2 years now, it's a great mouse. But in time the batteries get a bit exhausted, the lifetime of them is only a half day now. sad.gif I really need to replace them...

You won't have to use it but, the USB module is also the mouse charger, so you're going to need it anyway.

hey whats that thing in your headphone jack on the logitech z680's
Shaidar
I have the same set, and I bought it for 170€ lol smile.gif

That dude from the shop where I bought it, took the price of a cordless dexktop MX set, also with bluetooth, haha smile.gif

Nicest keyboard I've ever seen, even for gaming...

But ... does anyone knows what mousepad that is on that topicstarter's desktop?
cardboardbox
Yep, got myself that media desktop. Looked all over here in Canada and everyone was out of stock and ass expensive.

Finally located one (the last one) at some mom and pop computer shop for cheaper then all the others. I kicks ass.

Great review!

The mousemat is a Ratpadz GS, it's a quality pad. I've been recommended to get Mouse Skate to prevent the MX900's feet from wearing out.

It's an optical convertor, square optical to round optical, I can't remember for the life of me why I have it! Probably something to do with my now redundant MiniDisc recorder.

On the mediapad is there a backlight and what color is it if there is one? And if there is can you change the colors from like red, blue, or green?
DaCypher
I currently have an MX700 and its awesome. I remember reading a while ago that Bluetooth's bandwidth is significantly less than what the MX700 uses (and thus isn't as good for gaming), can someone verify/show me that this is not true?

Also, I've been wanting to get a wireless keyboard for a while now. Is it worth getting Bluetooth or should I just get a normal wireless keyboard (which I believe is cheaper).

I guess I don't totally understand Bluetooth's advantages. Essentially it just allows all Bluetooth compatible devices to connect via one hub, is there anything else?
Dazzla
Well when i had my MS keyboard, I really had to have line of sight when sat on my bed, and even then sometimes it wouldn't register every press. With this I just drag the media pad and control my movies and music, which is displayed on my TV, from my bed; because BT doesn't need line of sight. Not to mention checking out the odd email and seeing who's on Messenger biggrin.gif

As I said earlier, I find this mouse perfect for gaming, it's the first cordless mouse I have ever used, and I can say that it's just as good as any corded one. I cannot give you any figures or anything to back this up except that I belive (not definite) that bluetooth has the capability to transfer signals at up to 1000Hz (split between all devices?) not sure what the mouse frequency has been set too though, and the MX700 transferred at 125Hz, so I can't think of any perceivable benefit to lowering this, but maybe someone at logitech could have.

And in response to supernova_00, sorry but there is no backlight on the media pad.

Quick question, did the bluetooth software install WILDCOMM drivers under the hood?
Dazzla
How would I know?
Iain
In computer management.
Dazzla
In the Advanced BT configuration it says:

WIDCOMM Bluetooth software 1.4.3 build 4
Iain
Newer than mine then. Mine are 1.2.1 build 20.
Acezo
Oh...hmm, I was wondering because I saw your desktop and didn't see the Bluetooth icon. I have an Actiontec Bluetooth adapter when the WILDCOMM software loaded, it put the icon there that I can't get rid of no.gif
Can't find a way to hack it off either...
Dazzla
I removed the BT Icon from the desktop with TweakUI, I've left it in My Computer though.

I have (three) of those & the first one i bought since they first came out, heres what i think of it.
The MP doesnt have a back light <----- very annoying realmad.gif
I am not used to laptops keybord & using this keyboard i ALWAYS have a typo problem.
Using the Software gives you all the functions but also its the worst ever since ALOT of times the keyboard just disconnects ( you have to press the button on the mouse DS then on keyboard & wait) never had this issue without software. Yes i tried the latest logitech updates.
Thats what i can think of at the moment.
One of them just died for no reason ( Mouse only ) so i gave to my sis & for some weird reason it worked on her PC,trust me i tried everything to get that mouse to work on my system, and now shes having the same problem.

The GOOD:
It coverage is awsome (make sure the mouse DS is sitting HIGH). I tried going all the way to my sitting room ( 20M ) still no problem. Thats why i bought it in the 1st place, im using with Plasma TV & HTPC browse from bed =)
Its much better then MS BT since it works in BIOS too.
Ofcourse it looks great. ( most would agree ).

escuse my bad english blush.gif

Hey, i was wondering if anyone know if i would be able to get Foobar or AIM working with this MediaPad, the two programs i use most for media. Oh and of course i use some video playing program, but kinda pointless to use the MP display for playing videos, if you think about it............ well its my opinion.
Wannes
i may get this keyboard instead of the microsoft one. it looks damn awesome. thumbs_up.gif
