I finally finished the "enhanced" version of my 2250 VS. It would have been done earlier but I went on vacation and then had a big project due in school, so skinning got put on the backburner. Anyways, this upgrade should make everyone who had problems with the first VS happy. It also includes the "unenhanced" version of the theme, and the original is still available for dl as well.

The start menu and tray look very different from the screenshot.

i love the overall theme, my only beef is with the caption buttons, why do the min, restore/max, and close button's glyphs move when they are hovered!? that drives me crazy! but i can live with it. great theme, sir.

they're supposed to move. that's how it was in Whistler 2250

Not sure if this is a bug, but here:



When a window is maximized, the very top left and right pixels don't contain any window. So, it's like clicking the desktop, instead of the X button.

ahh -- ok. maybe an enhanced enhanced version, 2252;) ? what about a white font in the taskbar when selected as the active window? is this easy for me to switch for myself in style builder or anything?

it should just take adding a TextColor to the Taskbar button pressed section.

one minor niggle

and im not sure if this is a "feature" or not

on the radio buttons and check boxes, i've only noticed it on webpages with a dark background, because thats the only place i can see it, but behind those buttons, theres is a little square, this really does stand out on many webpages, such as www.nzgames.com/forums, you can see the boxes clearly here.

it could be fixed i suppose, I'd have to delete the solid background from the image, and then add a drop shadow.



the radio and tickboxes were basically taken from the actual business.mstheme from 2250, and resized and repositioned. I was lazy.



hurting: again, this is how it was in 2250. there is a 1 pixel transparency in every corner on the maximized titlebar. I don't know why, there just is, and I kept it there when I ported it.

It feels like old times again.

Great job on the port! There is one thing that I think may be a bug in this VS, and many VSs that I've come across. Please note the image below. The Connect To menu has two separator lines between the ISP connection and "Show All Connections".

i dont think it can. it seems to be a problem with the skinning engine, perhaps caused by stylexp, i dont know. I havent had an unmodded uxtheme.dll on my system in so long i cant remember if it was even right before stylexp

yeah thats apretty sweet whistler theme.

to think why Microsoft got rid of a theme like that... that is absolutley beautiful

This is great! I fell in love with this theme ever since first seeing it as "Piper" with Windowblinds. I was really disappointed when I couldn't get a version from themexp.org to work (it's called Professional 1.0, but the email address is different - is it your original?), and am glad to see this.



One question - I got used to having the text centered in the titlebar from other themes - do you know offhand how to change it? I have reshacker and all that, but I have no clue which file/value to alter.

i've never known how to center title bar text, so sorry, can't help you there.

And if you're like me and aren't comfortable at all downloading stuff from ThemeXP these days, PM me as it's bigger than the NW attachment limit - I have had it lurking around my hard drive for a while. And I know it wasn't really what you were asking for, but try Watercolour Lite and HmmXP's Codename Whistler subskin.

If he had made a new request thread, I doubt anyone would have responded so quickly. And some of you need to calm down. It's not like he brought back a thread just to be funny. You guys baffle me.
