It all depends on what you code into it. It's actually 100% customizable. I'm just trying to stick to something that's easy to use and that people are familiar with.
But right now, mine does the following:
1. Displays extended file info for a file in any folder (instead of just system folders).
2. Provides quick links to system areas (this is still being improved upon).
3. Just makes it look nicer. Doesn't really take up much processor usage.
4. Provides a preview pane for images and other media (sound and movies). Though the thumbnail option does the previews just as well for images.
5. Like I said in 3, it's eye candy. And practically everyone on this board loves eyecandy.
Future imrpovements to mine will hopefully be:
Full implementation of the custom webview (there are still certain folders it doesn't affect, but I'm working on it).
Better looking all-around. Skinable (just replace a few images and voila, a completely new look!). Now for the skinnable thing to happen, someone needs to set some default standards. And I think once this version is completed, those standards can be based off of it. (eh, it may or may not catch on, who knows...)
Panels that stay closed while navigating through diff folders... (still working on it)
