I was using firefox before sp2, but after microsoft added the popup blocker I went back to IE.

That's a big mistake my friend - IE is still terrible, despite the very minor additions under SP2.

Its features don't even compare to Firefox - the best browser in the world.

firefox hands down. not gonna give reasons why i think it's the best.

Another vote for Gecko.
Toxikk
gecko of course.

haha results are almost 5:1.
ZZOOzzoo
I like it fast and light, so IE for me! laugh.gif
alexcollins
Firefox easily (Gecko). Check my sig and avatar biggrin.gif
The_Decryptor
I cant remember if i have posted in this thread, so ill post.

Gecko for me, although i would happily vote for the KHTML engine, and the one that powers opera.

Also, the people voting for Trident, apart from it's rendering speeds, how can you like it, it supports jack all web standards.
at0mican
Opera - you get what you pay for. Quality Browser.

As if that has anything to do with this thread. rolleyes.gif
nezermundy
Gecko the reason is becasue it is widely used, altough I think IE engine is good as well because more websites work with it, but thats becasue IE is more widely recognise in the world
Burly
Gecko the reason is becasue it is widely used?

None of your last post nezermundy makes any sense at all.

Anyway for me Firefox/Gecko without a doubt.
€irik
firefox is more safe and i stop getting viruses and spywares when using firefox.

This isn't directly about browsers, its about rendering engines...
worbd
I would have to say Presto, the engine in Opera. It's smaller, faster and more capable than other engines. Presto fits neatly on a mobile phone, while Gecko has a really hard time with that. They are working on stripping down Gecko for mobiles, calling it Minimo, but who wants a stripped down browser when they can have the real thing - Presto?
Jessehk
Opera = every feature needed, excellent overall
Firefox = very easily customized, active community of Dev's
Maxthon ( ie shell ) = tons of features, very extend-able, active community, more secure then ie.

I use all three.
karl.tacheron
I used to use all 3, but not anymore.

First of all, this isn't about each browser, but about the engines! There are other threads for comparing browsers.

That said, Opera has a very active community! It's got a huge forum.
aman01
The reason I choose Firefox is because of its widely available extension, skinable and performance wise although it lose to Opera in term of speed. and no problem with all site either. cool.gif

Wow, yet another person who didn't pay attention. This is about browser engines! Not browsers! There's Presto (Opera's engine), Trident (Internet Explorer's engine), Gecko (the engine of Firefox, Mozilla, and Netscape), and KHTML (the engine of Konqueror and Safari).
Matrix XII
I'm a big fan of FF, but I don't mind IE either... my vote would go FF tho.
Hankyone
this thread is about ENGINES not browsers
Ibrahim
Maxthon (IE based browser), Doubtlessly!
worbd
Maxthon is not a browser engine, Ibrahim. Did you read the post just before yours?
Farstrider
Maxthon uses the Trident (Internet Explorer's engine) engine, so my vote goes to Trident! This I suppose is pretty obvious!!

But Trident isn't a very good rendering engine. Maxthon is fine, but Trident as a rendering engine is pretty bad.
DJ Trauma
To me, gecko! cool.gif
PureLogic
KHTML, Safari 2.0 beta (final released with Tiger) is the fastest browser I've ever used.
huw
I use firefox because of skins and adblock.

Oh, ****. I give up. Don't bother posting unless you understand what a browser engine is.
EduardValencia
i think FF 1.0.1 loads the page quite slugishly than IE (probably because new underhood features implemented),so i'd prefer IE6 engine now.
THE BAT
Internet Explorer at all. and be the favor after SP2
kaffra
whatever engine that drives IE

1.0.1 was a security release, not a features release, theres nothing new `under the hood`.
Ke0
I'm wondering did ANYONE read the question asked, he said best ENGINE, not browser
TheWahbinator
BTW, Internet Explorer is NOT an engine.
Trident is the engine for it.

Gecko all the way (Moz 1.8a6/FF 1.0.2)
jimbo11883
I like IE best as a browser. I have FireFox and Opera installed but only use them for web design. Gecko is the best engine IMO.
Valerus
I must say...Firefox.

mad_onion

ParaDockS
Gecko...closely rivaled by KHTML
CrisCr0ss
ie is better after firefox but definatly firefox
moogleman
I was just thinking... isn't Opera's engine called "Presto"? I think they changed it to that after version 7, at least. Just in case a moderator wants to edit the poll.

whom do u think is the best browser, i chose opera it's the fastest, better ui,no active x. I hate mozilla browser realmad.gif , IE with sp2 is excellent. Vote & tell why.

I love Firefox and Safari...

actually I CAN'T leave without TABs ... my browsing is fast and I can't stand IE any more ...

You ask us to tell you why .... but you don't tell us why you prefer Internet Explorer !

why ?

brentaal
Gecko is my favorite browser engine...

I already use 2 browsers based on it, Mozilla Firefox and the K-Meleon browser... both of them work great, but I would give some advantage to the first one...
BigCheese
IE is my favourite engine (I use Maxthon), followed by Opera. I don't really like the gecko engine and I've never tried khtml.
