Gecko - seems to load pages more diversely than other browsers...even if the page isn't up to web standards.

It really depends on what you need.
Opera: Simple browsing, no frills, one of the faster web browsers.
Mozilla Firefox: Has speed(although not as fast as Opera), excellent tabbed browsing and optional add-on extensions. You can also change the ways it looks, too. My fave.
IE: To me, one of the worst. Popups come out of NOWHERE sometimes. Quite lag....but I suggest NOT to delete it. Certain software and website need IE to work.
Hope this will help you decide which browser is the better one for you.

Yes. Opera uses Opera redering engine and IE uses IE rendering engine. It's like Maxthon uses IE engine, Safari uses Khtml enigne and Flock (based on Firefox) uses Gecko engine. We aren't talking about the browser, but the engines that browsers use.

Id say Gecko.
IEs engine: It's CSS and XHTML support is appalling. It does render pages relatively quickly though.
Opera: It's more standards compliant than IE, but still not perfect - there is no perfect browser engine though. Does sometimes render perfectly coded webpages wrongly for no apparent reason though.
Gecko: Renders most (if not all) pages (that have been coded correctly) fine. It understands coding standards, not completely, but alot better than IE and probably slightly better than Opera's engine. Renders pages quite slowly though.
KHTML: Renders pages fookin' fast...but 9 times out of 10 it doesn't render the page properly

It needs a lot more work done to it.
The only browser I've used that uses the KHTML engine is Konqueror, I don't know if Safari is any different for whatever reason.

WebCore has so many advancements from KHTML.

Safari renders pages
correctly 9.5 times out of 10. Usually, the site that doesn't render correctly is very poorly coded.

Well I've already voted Mozilla (Gecko) in this poll months ago, but now that I've used Safari and Firerfox on Mac OS X 10.4, I'm kind of split between KHTML/WebCore (Safari's engine) and Gecko as some things Safari can do properly that Firefox can't and vice-versa.

If you have nothing nice to say, stfu and pass this post by.
Oh, btw, i use a few browsers. IE, Firefox, Mozilla and Opera. I cant settle on one just yet
Fire fox is better than IE anyday, even though I still get ads with firefox! Well even adblocker did help, but it messed up flash support so I got rid of it.

IE for me.
God...
hcsprakers, Flock is not a browser engine. Flock uses the browser engine called Gecko, which is the same engine that Firefox uses.

iCab (iCab Engine) is
now one of the best browsers for the Mac. It is definitely the best for OS 9, followed by Mozilla (Gecko).

The Opera engine (Presto) is a fantastic engine, it renders very quickly and will soon have 100% W3C standards compliance. In my opinion nothing can touch it

IE6 was slow and scored low. IE7 B1 Starts fast, stability ends last. IE7 B2 Blazing speed, just everything you need!!
(sorry it is poetry day with us in belgium. overall i like IE7 B2 the most because it looks good, and has almost all functionality of FF and it's good integrated with sites, only a few bugs but they will be fixed)

best engines right now should be Opera and KHTML as they passed the Acid2 test.
I presume this poll is about the webpage rendering engine? not the overall user experience, as that will have to take into account the GUI, extensibility and customization.

how can msie have a better engine than opera? it doesn't make sense. ie is incredibly outdated!
oh and 'it's so compatible!' is not a valid argument. msie isn't compatible with sites. sites are compatible with msie. in other words, sites working with msie doesn't say antying about the quality of msie's engine, just that people are forced to make their sites work.
