Sorry if this has been asked before, couldn't find anything via searching.

I'm looking to buy another 512mb of memory to put in my iBook, as I'm still running on the default 256mb built-in ohmy.gif I decided to hop onto Crucial's site (Got all the memory for my PowerMac from them, thought it would be a good place to start) and noticed that a 'standard' 512mb 200-pin SODIMM of PC2100 costs £70, yet using the memory selector an 'apple' chip costs £90 (see, attached screenshot)... they both seem the same to me, however I could be wrong.

Do I really need to fork out an extra £20 to upgade my iBook memory? huh.gif

I think the difference is its unbuffered.

No, if it is the right type of ram it will work.

I ordered my Ram from crucial using the RAM selector and it really works great. Plus right now you get free 2nd Day shipping from UPS. good deal if you ask me. If you order generic ram its not garaunteed to work for your iBook. If you order it and it doesnt work you can send it back and get a full refund or whatever. I dunno.
