At first, I need to say KoL is the first person who released new Slate from Athens PC screenshots but he's not the first one who started making it. I don't have much to say about this work except I did this as Slate. It's accurate work with my own modification for the sake. Also added thin taskbar with Mistic mod. Have fun

good one
This is becoming more of the same thing. It looks nice, but it's practically the same as Kol's one. There are like 10 other themes that are using the same taskbar + startbutton. Maybe you should consider dropping the whole Longhorn thing for a while unless you can come up with something really new. Just a thought

Read the first post again. KoL is first person who released that port but not first one who made it (Also not accurate as this one so far because he don't like new captionbar in Athens PC). I developed this secretly and showed my first screenshot after KoL's shot to prove them I didn't follow his work.
About taskbar, it came with Aero enabled. Get Longhorn 4074 and enable Aero function. You'll understand why I keep this.
I'm not saying you stole the idea or anything. It's just more of the same. There are now 8 (correct me if I'm wrong) Longhorn themes on the same page here, all made by you. It's like you're becoming obsessed with making them. It's overwhelming.

That's not far different for each visual style. I just need to change captionbar and taskbar. Just like Longhorn that has only few changes for each new design and I want to port them all for sake.
Amazing, i like it

but the themes all look alike! maybe in the refinement you have made a exact replica of areo but if you glance at it its the same thing...
your good, no question about that, but how about varying your taste abit... like making the taskbar smaller or I don't know... I'm not themer so I can't really give you pointers.
anyhow.

ic. I used to make thin taskbar for Aero theme but now I realized I was wrong. It need to be normal size to notice glassy effects easier.

Oct 1 2004, 19:04
true, but still, the areo theme is being run to the grown because SO many people are trying to mimic it. but I get your point.
what I would really REALLY like to see is the coloured theme applied to outlook 2003 just like when you use the original Luna theme.
NOW that would be amazing.

That needs cracking Office2003 UI files. We may need to wait for time that new Longhorn UI revealed.

I remember readin somwhere in neowin that it had to do with the theme its self.. the meta files and such.
I guess they are missing in the themes that are being cloned.
Windows X, seeing the vast number of quality themes that you're producing lately, it begs the question:
What are you using as your theme atm? Do you have a personal favorite?
Windows X
Oct 1 2004, 19:35
Well, it's quite hard to make a choice because each one has its own good points. I ever think about Longhorn Heart project to merge all I like but doesn't look good when combined, though. My favourites are Plex UI and Aurora from Longhorn Aero, Aero Concepts, Plex Style (Media Center Edition), Slate Athens and last is Slate Refresh (not released yet) But my best favourite Longhorn theme is Plex UI from Longhorn Aero (No brand new resources and most origin Plex from first Aero. Like it so much

) However, I'm still using Chobits visual style

... man you're dumb this is a "rip" from the real longhorn ...
ANDYLOGO
Oct 6 2004, 22:33
Yes, as well as being a rip from the real longhorn. But the caption buttons are rips from those two themers
thin taskbar would be nice

Oct 7 2004, 01:58
aren't all the current Longhorn themes a rip from the real longhorn with "personal preferences" included? Windows X has done a great job with this theme... it's his own personal interpretation... besides.. for those so concerned about rips etc... just how many different "start buttons" etc can be created... should we start counting pixels?

ANDYLOGO, I don't want someone who used to rip my work claim me with dumb idea. Check captionbar, KoL use normal Slate but I use recaptured new Slate bar from screenshot. Check captionbutton KoL's has color added and stefanka's is mackind. But mine ported from Longhorn directly and left button is longer than any other Longhorn theme. Check toolbar, mine looks a bit deeper and has curve up at last. Color also looks a bit different for elements. Most of all, they're my friends so if I want to use their work as mainbase, I can ask them for permission easily. I'm sure this won't make you stop flaming because you're blind.

amen. I'll just use KoL's. Try something different Window_X, please??
Windows X
Oct 7 2004, 16:20
It's not same and I finished this theme (without new Aero resources) before KoL start Longhorn theming as under developed theme for long Longhorn Transformation Pack 7 roadmap. Check these and compare to any theme you think that's what I took from.
-Captionbar
-CaptionButton
-Toolbar
-Taskbar
And see original screenshot for proof. I ever asked KoL to use new Slate captionbar from this screenshot but he said he wanna keep it. Do you notice it now? If not, as you wish. Only quality user will sense the difference that normal user can't.

Maybe pic can make you guys understand it easier. Is there anything that look same? No. If you want to say mine looks similar to KoL's work anyway. Sure, I and KoL ported it from the same screenshots. I'll post this for the las time..."I started developing this theme about one week after I had got Athens screenshots. But I didn't release or show any progress because I want to make a surprise for Longhorn Transformation Pack 7. KoL started porting Longhorn theme so I need to show mine to prove that I didn't copy his work (Use search if you want to see it)." And mine and KoL's theme aren't look alike. He did what he likes and I did what I like from screenshots. There're dozen of Plex and Slate visual style so why can't there any other Athens port? Don't stick to what you saw first. Grow up, dude. Think of it carefully about what you're going to post. Is that what you should do? Is that what that make Neowin, where unprofessionalism looks better? Is that make my work better? And then post it when you're done.

hm, the way i see it, is that Windows X likes to make Longhorn visual styles....just let him, it's not like he's telling you to download it, he just wants to share it with people who appreciate his efforts.
and for people who are sick of longhorn based themes, doesnt the topic name kinda give away what kind of theme is posted ?

Sorry WindowsX you are right they are not the exact same. KoL's however is more accurate due to the elongated close button.

Yep, his closebutton has more accurate for size but it looks unbalanced for me so I ended it up this way.

Why you say that anyway?

Actually, I haven't worked on them right now. I haven't updated any progress almost a month. I just published my works that left in stock. But it's a bit too often because I don't have much time so you may think I work too damn hard on it for now. Don't you worry, I won't take that much for theming, at least for this month.

Can't you make some new skins? I mean, totally original - not some imitation of Longhorn?

I did but haven't released yet. btw, why don't you ask this to KoL too. I'm expecting to see something cool from his skills.

Because KoL has done kick ass stuff before.
He isn't a wannabe like "others".
