I just bought 512mb ram off ebay and it'll probably arrive some time next week. I'm just wondering, how much of a difference is it gonna make? I have 512mb (2X256mb. bad call, i know!) and I'm replacing one of them with the 512mb that I'm gonna receive. Here're the apps I use most regularly:
  • Firefox
  • Mail
  • iTunes
  • Adium
  • iCal
  • TexShop
  • Matlab
  • X11
  • Chicken of the VNC
  • QuickSilver
  • Maple 9
From time to time, Firefox freezes on me for like 5 seconds when I click on a link. I wonder if adding more ram would help.

By the way, send me a PM if you are interested in getting my 256ram (DDR 333 PC2700 SO-DIMM). I was really stupid and got it directly from Apple. It works on all Powerbook G4s.

It's gonna help your performance quite a bit. 256MB more is a pretty big upgrade. biggrin.gif
