maybe your confusing it with the preview release?
Works fine here, except that it broke almost all my extensions:
Gmail Notifier
Download Manager Tweak
Allow Right-Click
Tabbrowser Preferences
And my favourite theme: Qute 2.1.3
Luckily it didn't break All-in-One Gestures!

Yay! RC1!
Although I'm gunna wait till extensions are fixed before installing.

fix qute for 1.0 rc1:
- extract install.rdf from qute_2.1.3.jar using winrar
- open install.rdf with a text-editor and change the version number between
<em:maxVersion> and </em:maxVersion> to 1.0, so you get the line:
<em:maxVersion>1.0</em:maxVersion>
- put the modified install.rdf into qute_2.1.3.jar
- install qute_2.1.3.jar in firefox

fredfries that is a nightly that you are using, link post above is the real official RC1...go get that
bidz: easy fix for that...
CODE
Easy workaround, Close Firefox,
open \%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\randomname\extensions\Extensions.rdf
and change maxVersion="0.10" to maxVersion="1.0" (there may be a few).

turst me! look at your version date if its not 20041027 then you have an old old build have been many fixes since the nightlys been labeld RC1. file size is generally always around the same file size because bug fixes are usually only a line or two of adding of deleteing of code

Testing application update is one area we could really use your help. To test this, please see the instructions at Testing Software Update page. It will require you set a hidden preference to point your PR build at a testing server that should deliver you an application update to RC1.

I added a comment on both the front page and the "read more" sections stating that the update functionality is broken in this release.
I tried this and I had all kinds of problems. The most obvious was that my bookmarks were gone. I could see them if I "Managed" my bookmarks, but they weren't in the browser itself!
I guess I'll wait until I see it on the official page.
