Open Notepad. Copy and paste the following:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile]
@="Shortcut"
"IsShortcut"=""

Step 2:
Go to file, save as. Click on all files, and call it shortcut.reg

Step 3:
Exit Notepad, and double click the file. It will say a new entry is about to be entered into the registry. Click OK.

--------------
Your Half Way there! Easy, Right?

NOTE:
This is the EXACT same procedure, step one is modified slightly! Take note!

@="Shortcut to MS-DOS Program"

"IsShortcut"=""

Step 2:
Go to file, save as. Click on all files, and call it shortcut2.reg

Step 3:
Exit Notepad, and double click the file. It will say a new entry is about to be entered into the registry. Click OK.

And that's it!

Revenant
Or you could just install TweakUi, Its alot simpler.

Some people would rather do it theirselves rather than use a program.

You can also do this via reshacker.

Did exact thing and I find myself not being able to start anything "Explorer"
weather if it's my Local Disks, or Internet Explorer.

I click on it then my taskbar disappears for a while and then it comes back but my Internet Explorer or My Documents still have not opened

Anything to fix my problem, it just happened after I did this 'tweak'. Any thoughts of reversing the effect?

I have tried System Restore but it did not work. So I wonder if it's the 'tweak' that screws it up. Thank GOD for FireFox.

P.S. I have been having trouble with my explorer closing on me while I am using it (My Documents, Local Disk) but it has never occured to me that anything related to explorer does not open.

Do I have a virus? h4ck3r? bug? in my system, if so, how do I remove it.

P4, 512MB ram, Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2, using Microsoft Royale Theme (no patches)

Thank You,
WinXPro

Wow, I ran Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D

and everything went back to normal
I don't know what happened, I don't even understand these 2 softwares and what they do or how they work. All I know is that it fixes things. Scan>Delete

Sorry for the madness

I got Tweak UI now biggrin.gif
