Eli Manning was put in his place. We were laughing the whole time watch the game. The best part was when Trotter nailed him out of bounds and the Giants team had to stick up for Eli because he was not going to do it for himself. And my boy Darth Dawkins intercepted him. That was the icing on the cake for me. NFC East champs, w00t w00t!

I knew it was going to be a bad game for Eli when they showed pregame warmups. McNabb and Owens were on the field in the pouring rain practicing with one another and there was Eli in the stadium tunnel, out of the rain, throwing passes back and forth to Kurt Warner. It is like what the hell, you are going to be playing outside so go out and practice outside with your wide recievers and not the other QB. It is just rain you baby.
....
I said this when the Gints drafted him. He's one overrated QB, and will be a huge failure in the NFL.

I could be imagining this, but on the Philadelphia local news tonight I could have sworn I heard them say Eli Manning had a 16% QB rating. Can anyone verify this? If that is true, that is hilarious.

I just heard it on the Sports Machine show, he had a 16.9% QB rating. How ironic is it that San Diego thought they got the shaft because Eli did not want to play for them. smile.gif

oh god he is not overrated. problem is his O-line sucks balls. anyone that thought he was goign to tear it up is either a giants fan or stupid. *wonders how many thought payton was overrated in his first season* whistle.gif everything in due time

Lets face it, they all can't be Ben Roethlisberger.
CraigMack
Its pretty funny how you guys are killing him already. If anyone else was in that situation youd let him slide. 1st year in the pros, his recievers drop the ball a lot and the o-line sucks. The 2 teams hes played have very good defenses, Atlanta was 2nd in the NFL in sacks, so even veterans havent had success against them and the Eagles defense is very good all around. Im not even a Giants fan but Im a Patriots fan and I live in NY. Its talked a ton more on the sports radio stations here by guys who know a lot more of what theyre talking about than any of us.
Don Matteo
too bad the Eagles aren't the best team in PA. And now with TO, what are you guys going to use as an excuse when you blow the NFC championship game as usual?

"I'm a lot happier now than I was 10 minutes ago," Manning said during a second news conference; his first came when he still belonged to the Chargers .  "We wanted a trade to happen. We never had favorite teams (BULLSH1T  realmad.gif)."  Through Archie and agent Tom Condon, the Mannings told San Diego general manager A.J. Smith not to take Eli, and that Eli was prepared to sit out the season if they did choose him (LITTLE CRYBABY WOULD SIT OUT IF HE DID NOT GET HIS WAY.  POOR BABY.  cry.gif). The Mannings preferred New York, and got what they sought.

This is why I hate him with a passion. For what he did at the draft to the Chargers, he deserves what he gets. He came off with an attitude that he was better then everyone else in the draft, so why should he play for a crappy team like the Chargers. Since he was the son of Archie and the brother of Payton he had the mentality that he should be playing for a more prestigious team, not a team that was the lowest of the low. Then he and his family complained, pulled their weight and had him sent to the Giants. I thought that was a cowardly thing to do and that he was a little brat who cried and got his way.

QBs like McNabb, Culpepper, and Vick for instance, turned **** poor jokes of teams around into forces to be reckoned with. They did not cry or have their families get them traded to other teams. They stepped up to the challenge and produced.

Bad ref calls? I do not know why would have to give an excuse if we lost. Am I supposed to feel bad that some people thing Pittsburgh is the better team in PA? Good for them. We won't be seeing them in the NFC championship game and I would be happy enough if the Eagles made it to the superbowl, let alone win it.

Rookie Years

Culpepper had a tremendous Rookie season followed by 2 average ones by his standards. Why would he be whining about what team he goes to in the Draft? He went to University of Central Florida, a ton of big names come outta there.

Vick had a 62.7 passer rating in 8 games. TD: 2 INT: 3

McNabb had a 60.1 passer rating in 6 games. TD: 8 INT: 7. Also avg. yardage 4.4 per pass, very little

They all had descent lines too, and thankfully didnt have Toomer and Shockey on their teams to drop balls when theyre thrown.

I bet that Eli's career will be like Kerry Collin's

I remember that Collins was considered the next Montana in his rookie year biggrin.gif

They didn't seem to be dropping passes on Sunday. They looked like bad throws to me, which is why Eli was 6 for 21.

I honestly think Eli Manning is going to be the next Tim Couch. I remember in 1999 when they hyped up Couch saying he was going to be the future of the NFL and was one of the best QB draft picks ever. He had all these college stats and records that backed up that claim, but he never produced in the end. The Browns had only reached the playoffs once and that was when Holcomb took charge. Now he is washed up. I think all this hype about Eli Manning is for nothing and I do not think he will be that great in the future. I could be wrong and be eating my words a few years later, but that is my opinion. I just think people are blinded by the accomplishments of his brother and father and they can't even fathom that Eli could possibly suck.

Exactly. The Gints fans just won't accept it. Warner didn't have anywhere near a 16.9 QB rating in the games he played in NY. So what was that about the O-line? The WR? Have those changed?

You should feel retarded after saying that. The Eagles got handled by Pittsburgh. Face it bud, its not their year. The only team that can bring down the Steelers right now is the Colts. Peyton is just amazing. We'll see when we get there though. Until then, Pittsburgh is the best team in PA without a doubt.

Oh, I almost forgot. You weren't kiddin when you said we won't see Pittsburgh in the NFC championship! Its ashame..they're in the AFC.

He also asked me what excuse would I give if we lost the NFC championship again. I was joking when I said bad ref calls. I was not talking about the past Pittsburgh game, I was talking about the future NFC championship if we make it there and lose.

Eli will be fine in due time. He is a rookie quarterback on a terrible team. I highly doubt he is going to be the next Peyton but he will do ok. Remember Peyton went 3 -13 in his first year. The only reason Big Ben is having success is because he has a lot of good players around him.
finality
The only reason Big Ben is having success is because he only has to throw for 100 yards per game to be "successful". He still hasn't shown me squat.
CraigMack
Even though your an Eagles fan and I can see what angle you have on this, Big Ben really hasnt done a whole lot. Hes shown that hes a good quarterback but I believe if Maddox was on they would have maybe 1-2 more losses, not a huge diff, Eli might look good on that team hah

BroChaos
i don't think you guys are giving ben enough credit. and giving eli too much. i think it's pretty much been proven over time that most of the greats come from the small schools, and aren't hyped at all. eli will flop. ben will be successfull. it just comes from your attitude. ben went to small school, and had to work hard to get recognized. eli got recognized just by being born. the attitude towards the game just isn't the same.

i don't think ben has the greatest group of athletes around him either, but they've absolutely destroyed the best teams in the league...you gotta give him credit for that.

it's nice to see my boy brees finally doing well too. i've been preaching for a long time that he will be great someday...

It makes me wonder if Kyle Orton is going to be a good NFL QB?

Eli did something that even his brother couldn't do...

...beat the Mighty Florida Gators. smile.gif

And one thing you guys need to remember...you don't, necessarily, have to put up God-like numbers in order to be successful in the NFL.

Trent Dilfer vs. Dan Marino.

One has a buttload of NFL passing records...the other has a Super Bowl trophy. Even Tom Brady won't re-write record books. But he's got hardware wink.gif

Yes, is easy to have 150 yards. But tell me what rookie can have his rating, his completion % or his leadership. Like it or not we are not talking just about yards here, Ben is playing like a pro just because he can stay calm and still in games, without rookie'ish pressure, make the necessary plays at the correct time and actually complete them.
BroChaos
exactly. and if ben hasn't shown you squat, by your logic, tom brady hasn't shown you squat either. unless by squat you mean 2 superbowl mvp trophies and 2 superbowl rings.
TDQuiksilver
Mr. Thomas Brady is where it's at. "Big Ben" hasn't shown me squat either. It's all about team management. Utilizing every player. I hate the Mannings.. a bunch of cry babies if you ask me.

As i huge Giants Fan and season ticket holder heres my thoughts:
"We" never wanted Eli and now we are stuck with him. He won't be a huge failure, but he is never going to be his brother either. He will get better. Nuff Said.
There are 11 men on each side of the football and its not just eli, lots of them share in the blame but mostly the terrible O-line and the receivers innability to catch really just kills the game, the team is playing so bad i could go on and on, but i will still love them today tomorrow and the next time we win a super bowl.

Eagle Fans are unlikeable, this whole we are proud of having a jail in our stadium attitude has to go. Its pretty sad when the Eagle fans in front of me won't take their kids to Philly for a game because he doesn't want his children exposed to the animals.

Its pretty sad when some punks who are wearin TO Jersey's in the parking lot want to pick a fight with me and my friend when 1 they are gonna lose and 2 this i am a white guy from the suburbs of philthy doesn't really scare anyone. Getting punched in the jaw and the poice not helping you isn't working for you.

Lastly
My Argument to all Eagles Fans, enjoy your moment right now because
"I have seen my team win 2 superbowls in my lifetime. Must suck to have never won 1 like the eagles, or is it worse to be NFC East Champs and choke at home in first week playoffs not once but twice? I can't wait to see that again. Come to think of it, it must just suck in general to be a Philthadelphia sports fan of any type. In my 28 years on this earth, not 1 of your pathetic sad little teams have won anything, except for that NBA title in what was it '84? The Flyers? THE biggest cinderalla joke on ice, I love how they called the Devils the mickey mouse club, well M-I-C-K-E-Y baby. 3 in my life to none for you in mine. The Phillies, please, they should move down to the AA league. The sixers are a joke to. Even the Philly colleges eat at sports (I could be biased i went to Penn State)"

You know what most Eagles fans replied in the Giants Stadium Parking lot when i gave this argument? They said well i am a Yankee (or Orioles) Fan!!!! w00t.gif I am a Lakers Fan!!! Yea right! ROTFL!!! How sad and pathetic. history will prove me right, who are you going to beat in the big dance? Indy? You have no pass defense, THe Pats? They will just lay the smack down on you, i know maybe the Steelers, at least they are a class act from PA but we already now how they owned you this season. Maybe you'll get luckey and San Diego will get to the game, not likely but stragner things have happened. Or maybe you'll just lose at home to Hotlanta. I guess you won your superbowl when you beat NY and clinched, maybe thats just as good as it will get. good luck with that. say what you like, i know the giants season is over, but in the end it aint worth $#!T if you don't win the big game. Only losers believe otherwise. yes.gif

Sheli is a little biatch and is getting what he deserves. I was soooo glad the he shunned the Bolts . lol, All i can say is Go Chargers!! Oh yeah, and thank you for the 1st rd draft pick wink.gif yes.gif

Haha, and you wonder why we get into fights with Giants fans?

The majority are ignorant ******s that seriously overstereotype.

The Philly sports scene has been in a funk for a while.

Big deal, there's no reason to attack us for it. And fans that steer for the Yankees as well as the Lakers? Let them. Who cares? I'm Philly only.

Oh, and where do you get off calling Philadelphia 'Philthy', when New York is the rat capitol of the world? Give me a break.

All of your points are moot, you can now proceed to enjoy seeing your pathetic team get whooped on every week while I have the pleasure of watching my Sixers fall apart. It's sports, not life, fag.
sanctified
To those who said that Big Ben is a talentless overrated player.

%90+ completion avg and 2 tds.

Ok, not awesome numbers, but for a rookie?

We know about a lot of rookie QBs that have a good team but they just tank. Big Ben, in the other hand knows how to use his resources.
mulder
Big Ben is the real deal. Anyone that says otherwise is clueless imo. I wish my bolts had gotten him instead of Rivers. But only time will tell...
