Any chance of having sub-catagories in the Gamers/Console forum.

Rather than just have "console" and PC could we have

Xbox
Playstation 1 & 2
Nintendo
PC
etc.

Personally I use the Xbox, and would fnd it easier to follow threads if I didn't have to trawl through loads about other formats etc.

I am sure others would fnd this beneficial too.

if neowin were all about gaming it would make sense, but it's not. the way i see it, it's a blessing to the people who frequent the gaming forum that they have a forum to post in to begin with.

But what about cross-platform games?

Like it's been said, Neowin is a tech support forum first. We don't even really need to have a gamers section, but we do, since some are interested in that. We could go through and break down every secondary forum here. But we don't as it would kill the layout we have. I'd love to break the Mac section down more, but that isn't our primary interest here.

I guarantee having more subforums means more misplaced threads, which means more thread moving for us mods

It's generally a waste. All people should do is place a console tag in their titles such as "[xbox] Halo 2 ending" or "[DS] Pictochat Error"

People can't even post in the correct subforum now, why do you imagine that would change with even more subforums?
