I have 3 accounts on my PC, they all have their pictures to be shown on the Welcome Screen.
After a windows crash, the computer restarted automatically and Windows checked my disk before the welcome screen, and the computer restarted again after the disk check. Finally I could see the Welcome Screen. But on the screen I didn't see my custom pictures but 3 'CHESS' pictures. However, I could change my picture back.
This is a bug.

Report it to Microsoft, there really isnt a great deal we at Neowin can do about it.

you might get more helpful replies from the xp/nt support forum since this forum is for xp customization.
