can i shrink it with idvd or do i need another prog? and is idvd a great prog to burn dvds i backup on my hard drive?

shodan
Freeware ? No... sorry.

You can use Popcorn by Roxio, or FastDVD Copy, or DVDRemaster, or DVDXCopy.

I like popcorn, anf DVD Remaster, they both have great quality.

Aftre that you'll need Toast to burn it on a dvd.

Handbrake let's you create divx or xvid movies, don't let you shrink a dvd to create a burnable dvd.... but it's a great program indeed! biggrin.gif

And please guys... dvdshrink it's for XP..... this is Discussing Mac OS forum.... wink.gif

do i need toast after i shrink it with a program?
`

or can i just burn it with idvd? and dpes idvd have an option to shrink?

thanks everone for the replies, im going look at ffmeg and toast... does ffmeg shrink the dvds?

i extracted one dvd on my hard drive and it was 3.8 gb, is it important for me to shrink it to put it on a dvd?
krmathis
No, you dont need Toast.
Create a DVD image with DVD Imager, then burn to DVD with Disk Utility.

Never tried ffmpegX myself, but this is what the site says:
QUOTE
When encoding to MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 it can also author the video as VCD or K/XVCD (.bin/.cue files for burning with Toast by dropping the .bin into VCD window) or as SVCD, CVD or K/XSVCD (two .img files to be burned in Toast under Multitrack XA window), or as DVD (/DVD/ folder for burning in Toast DVD mode, and .img file for burning in Disk Image app or Toast disk image mode).

If the extracted DVD files are 4.3GB or below you dont need to shrink it, just burn it straight away! smile.gif

Disk Utility is a program to handle hard drives and disk images.
Here are some of its features:
* Delete, create and format partitions.
* Create, compress, mount and unmount disk images.
* Backup and restore disks.
* Repair permissions.
* Burn CD and DVD's.
* Erase CD/DVD RW's.

You find it in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder! wink.gif

I have never used iDVD, so cant answer that question.
