hope this is the correct forum, sorry if not.
So i'm new to this (not even an hour into it). I know how to use the program to change the boot screen
however, when i restart my comp, it acts like it did when i created partitions. It asks me whether i want to startup...
Windows XP PRO (Bootscreen)
Windows XP PRO
now, the bootscreen is what i'd just changed it to. The regular pro is the old XP default.
does anyone here know how i can get my comp to startup without pausing asking me which boot screen i want to start using? I want it to startup using the screen i've just selected, without asking me if i'm sure about it or not.
Thanks.

Right click on my computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings
Choose the bootscreen and uncheck the first box.

Change the Boot.ini files to look something like this
[boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
or just leave the one with the custom screen and take away the other..
don't use style xp use uxtheme.dll patcher that on neowin. It free and does the samething as style xp but for free

StyleXP has more functions than that little patch......
Just change the "time to display" to 1 second......
If your confident enough with Windows just edit the boot .ini file as mentioned previously, or when you started the "Boot" tab in StyleXP it asked if you wanted to make a backup line...You shouldnt have ticked yes if you didnt want to wait a couple of seconds

All of which can be done with better, faster programs that are free.
Uxtheme, windowblinds, iconpackager/iconphile, logon loader/logonstudio, bootskin.
All of these programs are shareware or freeware and are much better then stylexp. Do yourself a favor and try bootskin to change your boot screen

So instead you use 1 crappy piece of software that charges to use visual styles, boot screens, logons, and icons. But if you took 5 minutes of your time and did it right you could have it all for free. Talk about a waste of money and system resources.
Also, don't know if anyone noticed by it looks like tgtsoft no longer supports stylexp. They have shut down the forums on their website and their tech/customer support emails come back underliverable.

And as usual its my right to use that " crappy piece of software" you mention...
And theres more than one way to skin a cat
And yes theres no support anymore, but who needs support these days when theres wonderful forums, (like Neowin) where theres people who know more about the program than the original creators..hehehehehe

haha, an interesting point you make there.
anyway, as i said, i only just downloaded it so my reaction to post #3 was just, mouth wide open, jaw dropping, totally baffled. lol. Though thanks for trying to help, i just didn't understand what you said. Sorry.
but i understood the part of #6 where you mentoin it asked me if i wanted to backup or something. I did click yes. I didn't know that it created that choice upon startup.
and also, the words about how i pay needlessley, don't worry about it. It's free for a month. I didn't pay for a thing.
I couldn't get the patch to work..so i went with styleXP.. I have lottsa space.. so no worries... works fine even though I would have prefered the patch... oh well.
