i have a "Li-Ion" battery in my cell phone (sony ericsson t237) and i was wondering if its best to drain the battery before recharging? or treat it like an ipod and never let it fully drain.
DannyGlass
I would have said either way would be best.

Yes, Treat it like an Ipod. Li-Ion batteries are very delicate and should not be discharged for long periods of time. Having said this, Draining a Li-Ion battery will not extend it's life in any way.

Actaully, you can charge it when ever you like, as they don't have a " memory "

forgotten what the name of the memory is, but some batterys have memorys which cause problems when using/charging the batteries.

The memory effect which i assume is what you are referring to is called Voltage Depression' This Memory effect is a problem that was remidied about 5 years ago, so i would not worry about it.

Never let a li-ion deplete.

Charge it as many times and as often as you can.

So then since the iriver H120 is a lithium polymer battery, what would you guys reccommend as charging and discharging tips for that battery type?

edit: nevermind. iriver site says:

To extend the battery life: Li-Ion Polymer batteries do not have a memory function not like a Ni-Cd and Ni-Mh battery. We recommend recharging the battery before fully discharging in order to extend the battery life

People who say Lith Ion batteries don't suffer from the memory effect need to get some real world experience with them. If you condition them properly and charge them properly, they last much longer. This "no memory effect" is more of something that should be than a what actually is.
