I have a wirreless network at home:

Cable Modem > Airport Express (54mbps) > Imac G5 + PC (sitecom 54mbps adapter)

i made the network, i can connect to my old pc from my imac, but now if im going to transfer some big files the speed stops at 1 mbyte/s, it wont go any faster hmm.gif
how can i increase this speed?

btw, both computer are about 5 meters away from the AE.

I have same problem.. 1.2mbps not fast enough to stream movies no more. I have no idea why... I think I will call apple.

All my computers are 56G I have WEP Encryption on... sigh... this problem is extremely annoying. I am considering fitting up a Lan to move files.

I have 2 Macs connect with airport extreme cards and airport express, I can't stream movies too, and I've noticed that when I use the network the signal drops down almost to 0, then goes up again, having a inconsistant speed in network activity. I'm getting crazy about that, I can stream music, share resources, internet connection, but I can't copy large files.
I've tried all the settings, interface robustness, etc... I've noticed that if I switch to 802.11b the signal stay constant, and allow me even to stream movies, but it's so slow if you want to move large files (example movies) from one computer to another.

If you guys find a solution, please let me know! biggrin.gif

I can move large files over, it just takes ages. say a 600MB file would take about 11mins. its quite a long time really when compared to 100MB lan..

I dunno its just annoying.

yea me too, but this transfer should only take like 2 minutes

well you know 56mbps is only the bust rate it really is only like 5mbps or something. but 1mbps seems really low to me for transfers...

I am considering buying an Airport Extreme and adding it to my network.. ile keep my airport express for music streaming and stuff. maybe use it as an extender I dunno.

still the speeds are really slow.. there must be some sort of solution to speed things up.. i mean 1 mbyte/s on a 56 mbit/s router sucks.
