Full Version: Fixing my 2000 install

When installing GRUB , I installed it to my MBR when I installed linux.
My partition layout is as follows:
hd0,0 - Windows 2000 (NTFS) (70GB)
hd0,1 , hd0,2 , hd0,3 - Linu x partitions (10GB)

I have tried booting Windows through grub just as the installation guides for Gentoo says. But it just doesn't boot.I've mounted my NTFS partition to be sure there was no data loss, and there wasn't. My entire C:\ Drive is intact.

I would really like to fix my 2000 install, even if it means destroying Grub (playing with linux isnt as important as being able to play recently acquired games like Sims 2 and HL2). But I don't have a 2000 CD with me, I'll admit it, I installed it using a friends borrowed disc (whom I no longer see anymore). But I do have an XP disc if it helps any.

So yeah, basically I want to fix my MBR so I can boot windows 2k back up.

Boot off the XP disk and enter recovery console, fixmbr will sort it out and restore your MBR.
