its a pentium 266 dedicated machine with 128MB memory in Redmarks room on his Dial up. lol j/k
its a dedicated server from what i understand, and i think its colocated in a datacenter but i could be waaaaay off. lol

also, neowin uses some kind of caching service, to prevent DDoS (i remember those days...)
2TB? woah! havnt seen any hosting provider giving more than 1600GB bandwidth..

that's a lot of bandwidth...and to think that it's mainly just images and forum files...not actual people downloading files like programs and stuff...just imagine if neowin had program downloads right off of their server

All the Admins and staff do an excellent job here at neowin, and the only pay they get are Adverts (thats i dont block cos i support neowin) and subscriptions which im guessing hardly pays for anything. Well Done Neowin!

They have two large servers
One is the mysql server
one is the apache ( web server ) This server sends the info to you etc...
There in theplanet.com DC.
I have my server in theplanet...
The planetdc has about 10+gbit connections.

Whoa, alot. Suppose hosting alot of the avatars and attached images including the large amount of users visiting the website helps to contribute towards that high figure.

All of the servers I sell allow 4TB of data transfer. 2TB up, and 2TB down.

Assuming each visitor gets an average of 300k each hit (I just checked the size of this page), thats about 4 hits per second.

GZIP may cut down on bandwidth usage but you take a huge performance hit when you enable it especialy with as many hits as Neowin gets.
