Full Version: Zen Micro owners NEEDED!
I have my eyes set on the Creative Zen Micro! But I need actual users' opinions about it. Like pros and cons or extensive reviews about it.

I dont personally own one, but from everyone that ive seen that has one, they all say its kick ass. All I've done with it is play around with the touch pad, nothing more. Its nice and small, ill give it that.
I've played around with a friends. While I've seen a few reviews criticize the interface, I think it's spectacular. I find it much nicer than the iPod's touch pad wheel thing.
What you wanna know about?
The vertical touchpad is a bit sensitive when it comes out the box, and takes about 5 minutes to get used to (i also put mine on low sensitivity) but now i like it better than the ipod wheel.
The sound quality is fantastic, much better than my old jukebox zen 20gb.

Have you had an issues with the battery? I'm getting mine on Wednesday and the only thing that worries me is all the comments on low battery life.

Did you update the firmware yet? It changes the sensitivity a bit.

Same thing for battery life. The shorter battery life was because they weren't charging properly.

Nope the battery is getting a full 10-11 hours for me, but i did read other peoples complaints about its battery life and read from a guy at creative that when you get it you should run down any charge that is initialy in the battery then let it charge fully, empty it fully and charge and empty fully again, and then you should have a high battery life. That doesn't sound right to me. A Lithium Ion battery should not be charged down to zero. They are the opposite of older bateries and actually do better if constantly top them up
The battery life issues that i had heard about and that the firmware fixed was that the player doesnt properly recognize the charger if the charger was already plugged into the wall when you plug it in to the micro. The micro would only charge the battery patially because of this

No, I would have to say. My phone and my PDA batteries worked better after I had drained them a few times.
i have heard similar things about the initial draining and full charging for new li-ion batteries, not sure whether to believe it. Does anyone have some good links on that subject. In the end, I can't imagine it makes a world of difference, but if someone thinks it does, please post some evidence. Thanks.

I just got a Zen Touch and although it is a diffrent player it does have a li-ion battery. In the manual it says it is best to charge the battery when it is down to about 30% and that it may extend its life if you charge in then.

Considering the usb port is on the top of the micro, it would look kinda funny sitting in a dock upside down
I think the stand would work fine though

Yeah, I heard that the asian version came with more accessories! Makes sense since Creative is based in Singapore. And I think because everyone in North America adores the iPod more... which doesn't make sense... Creative should have bundled more accessories there to compete with iPod... oh, I don't make sense.

Uhm... I've seen the picture... and it being held in a hand (could be a gigantic hand)... so can it fit inside your pocket like a n6600? Is it too plasticy?
PS. Does it smell good when you first open the box???
it fits inside your pocket easily, its smaller than a n6600. It aint plastiky it feels v sturdy tbh, just not as sturdy as the old metal beast that the zen jukebox was.
