Is there also any way to view an .avi file with the subtitles from the .sub?

.sub + .idx files are standard subtitles, ripped from a dvd. every good media player can play avi files with these. if your's can not, it's time for a change
or you can install vobsub (google for it) which is a directshow filter for such subtitles.
you can also convert such subtitles to .srt or anything else, with e.g. subrip.

Thanks for the replies! I can watch with subs now. How can I make it so that the subtitles are included in with the .avi files? I am hoping to burn the video into a DVD.
