I posted this in the wrong spot so now I'm in the right spot

I have speakers to hook up to my ipod to make it my stereo system but i wanted to know if its ok to play the ipod while its still on the dock? I see there is a line out on the back of the dock and i wanted to plug the speakers into it and just play the ipod while its still on the dock... so is it safe to do that?
thanks

If there's a line out on the back I don't see why that would be unsafe. What does the manual say?
edit:
...from apple's www:
iPod Dock or iPod mini Dock
Add an extra dock for charging iPod at work or at home. Featuring stereo line out, the iPod Dock connects to powered speakers, making a space-saving stereo.

i haven't heard of anybody doing this. i have my speakers connected via my soundcard. i'd play the songs via itunes.

If your dock has a line out then why the hell not?

Yes you can. I did it the other day to test out my new speakers, and it works fine.
