Anyone know of when the powerbook is gonna be updated, or if the G5 is anywhere close?
Xer34
Wait until this years MacExpo for any word on the new powebooks. I dont see those coming out this year though, IMO. smile.gif

Earliest I've heard (rumors mind you) is that they won't be here until at least 4th quarter of '05.

My best guess is that they are trying to solve the G5's cooling problem in a laptop sized case.

what about those dual core G4s? They're not going to be used for the eMac models. As far I've heard Apple's busy with an eMac model featuring a low-end G5 1.6 GHz CPU.

Mostly like MWSF. Wait for Jan 11 (I think thats the keynote date).

If they do announce a new powerbook, when are we likely to be able to purchase them? Do you think its likely to be pretty soon?

seriously...

every week its like there is a new thread with someone asking when the new powerbooks will be out. long story short. a year, at best. when can you buy one? with apple's shipping timelines after a new product is released, probably 14 months. before we see G5s we'll see faster G4 powerbooks.

come back in a year and ask again...

mootymoots
i only asked seeing as apple seemed to announce the new imac, and all of a sudden you could buy it straight away. I guess thats not going to be the case then if they announce a slightly faster powerbook?!?
MonkeyClaw
they havent announced that yet, its just a rumor last time i checked.
mootymoots
i know there hasnt been an announcemet, i was just wondering what sort of timescale we would be looking at "if" they announced a faster powerbook (not G5) at the convention...

a new powerbook will be before a year

by new powerbooks I'm refering to the addition of a G5 processor or a complete redesign. We'll see new faster G4 powerbooks probably around june with the release of tiger
