Hey guys, I'm running an Intel i830M graphics chip in my Laptop, and as you probably guessed it sucks with the composite manger in X. I really need some sort of equivilent to Renderaccell like the nVidia cards have, is there anyway I can get better performance out of this chip? At the moment I'm just using the standard Intel drivers, are there better ones to use for X.Org? Thanks! huh.gif

P.S. I can't use write-combing/fast-writes, it seems to break my vesafb.

The only cards with decent hardware acceleration for composite and damage Xorg features are the nvidia ones, with renderaccel enabled. Other cards simply don't have the hardware acceleration built into the drivers (although this should change soon).

It might be worth getting rid of your vesafb temporarily just to see if enabling fast writes will make a big difference to composite performance. Oh, and are you using side band addressing?

renderaccel hmm maybe that works with my card.

I installed Fedora just to play around with xorg and composites, but turned it on and everything went to crap, havn't touched it since.
