So b4 the holidays me and like 4 other kids at my school had iPods (that i knew of)
Yesterday was our first day back, and lo and behold, almost everysingle kid has an ipod. Out of close to 1000 studends like 1 in 8 had the tell tail white ipod headphones hanging from their ears.

I hear you man, i was like the only person with an ipod out our school early last year and since the mini and 4g ipods have come out, everyone (well not everyone) has one, and since xmas, loads of people have got a mini! even rudies (thos people who bully you for no reason) have them!

Same thing happened at my school. In 2004 ~ 8 people in school had an iPod. Jan 05 - damn, I've seen at least 1 person every class change.

Hah, mine too. Looks like I'm going to join them. And 90% of those people DO NOT DESERVE these ipods. I have 16gb and climbing of music at the moment and had to pay for my ipod almost completely. These people are the ones that have 1 CD and feel the need for an ipod. You might as well get a little USB thingy for 50 bucks that gets 20+ hours of battery and can hold your one CD just fine.

^Most people got minis at my school and I know they wont use half the space on it. I need to get an iSkin as well to seperate myself.

I have the same thing at my school. Me and about 4 or 5 people had iPods per break. Now theres about 4 times that and thats only the people who bring them to school. They all seem to be minis too.

i know, mine too, i seached for so long for decent headphones that wernt to big, and i found these, really awsome bass responce for a little tiny in ear, and the foam makes them sooo comfy

i use sony mega bass ones, good for the price

i feel ya man. i got my 3g 10gb in the spring of 2003 when it first came out, all with my own money. at that time only 3 other people had ipods at school. everything was cool until christmas.

Well, 5 of us (me and mates) have iRivers as of early last year, but I've noticed an explosion in iPod minis after Xmas.

Some girl was sitting there holding it and this other one ran over and went "oh yeah I so want one they're so cute".

Well, only 2 of us in our school has an iPod and two have iPod mini's!

In my school, only me and one girl who is fighting with her sister to upload songs because they have only 1 Windows XP computer, and the vice principal have them. One kid told me he got a new RCA Lyra (128mb) Mp3 player for Xmas, boy was he sad when I told him I got an iPod.

Last spring the only people with iPods, that I know of, were me and my friend's brother. Now there's probably 1 in 10 people that have either iPods or iPod minis (a lot of them that have only about 25 songs, like my sister who got a pink mini for xmas)

Some people have iPods at my School but I'm the only one with a silver iPod mini and Bang & Olufsen A8 Earphones.

WOW, same here, I was rocking the Gen3 last year. This guy I know on this board who lives down the street from me made fun of me saying "why would you want all that music with you at one time?" and he comes back to school saying he got a gen4 20 gig . Also two people i take to school got gen4 ipods THEY ARE EVERYWHERE NOW, but no one has the sexy gen3

well i guess perhaps the only good thing bout living in an area where the majority of the population thinks the computer or technology is a working of the devil, is that before xmas, like mebe one or two people had iPods, and after xmas, i got one and a friend got one, so we are now up to 4 out of a population of like 800.

At my school, the minis have been spreading like a plague sine the break.

and I'm the only one who actually has use for the space (I've got around 6,700 songs); one kid told me he had 41 songs on his 20GB pod

that is really sad right there, lol. its the same situation, the people that got them at my school like put 50 songs on a 20 gig like u said t-grey. i have bout 1500 on mine and everyone is like dude how on earth did u get that much. its rather amusing if u dont mind me saying so, lol

I feel good about my purchase of a 40gb ipod. I'm going to attempt to fill it up. Right now I've got 3151 songs and a couple hundred in the queue (559 estimate, there are some text files too)

The Gen3 iPod is nicer in looks than the Gen4, IMO

It makes me kind of ill. I had a 1st gen (that apple gave me when I worked for a reseller for selling 4 powermacs in a month). Then I got a 3rg gen and now a mini. I sold the old one to get a new one.

But now they have lost their cool factor. I feel like how a Green Day fan felt after they went mainstream. Maybe I will look at an iriver next. I need to be different.

I have the same situation at my school. Many many kids have iPods.

And the saddest part is that a lot of them have only around 100 songs on them. Such a waste...

I also hate how the white earphones are now a fashion statement: I have an Ipod!

Haha get over it guys it was the hottest item of the year everybody and their mother has one now. I don't see why people care about petty stuff like this. I had a 1st generation back when nobody knew what an iPod was. It was only a matter of time before the market was flooded with them since they are worth the price now.

Who cares if everyone has them does it really matter...

but I agree, the iPod was cool at some point but too many people have them now for it to be something special...

There aren't alot of people at my university with iPods (at least, there weren't before the holidays, dunno now) but those that do have them tend to use them. I don't care how many people have an iPod like mine, or how many songs they have on theirs, all I care about is whether or not mt 'Pod can do what it's supposed to: work with my iTunes library of 7200+ songs to supply me with more music than i could try to listen to in any given day. So what if it's a fashion item, it's a useful device for me. Anybody else who has gottten a mini or whatever to put 25 songs wasted some cash, perhaps, but in doing so they're giving Apple R&D money for the next generation of iPods that some of us will use to their full potential...

I guess I'm saying, if you use your iPod, don't comlpain... but what do I know?

So far, I've been the few odd people, as the rest who has MP3 players use iRivers or Creatives.

But atleast I can drop mine from a table and it'll still work (I have the iPod armor).

my school always has had at least 4 ipod users. now everyone has one. it kinda ****es me off because it kinda shows that the ipod is just a fashion thing to everyone. everyone always has it in their hand. someone got theirs stolen just yesterday (serves them right for showing off)

I was going to purchase one through my job (Best Buy), but there are no discounts off it, so I said screw it. I will wait for the 5th gen iPod to purchase one. For now, I'll save up to get a Nextel i860.

HAHA, i have a Creative Zen Micro, and it comes with white headphones. So when im walking down the hall, and in my classes while my Zen is in my pocket is very annoying. I probably get at least 10 "hey, show me your pod"'s each day. I try to be polite and explain that its not an iPod, but is a Creative. Their eyes glaze over in about 5 seconds.

wow, incredible. it's been a few years since i was at highschool, but in my last year more and more people had started bringing laptops and other bits of technology to school. ipods aren't exactly cheap, it's interesting that highschoolers are being given this much money for things like that (on such a large scale)

anyhow, when one ipod gets stolen, that'll lead to new rules at the school restricting them, ruining it for everyone. or teachers will get ****ed at students listening to music instead of their lessons

ha, my pre-calc teacher doesnt care if i listen to my zen micro, as long as i listen to the lecture first, and then do at least one problem in class. i actually finished an assignment in class once!!!
