As long as they're not on while the teacher is talking, but some teachers don't like them at all.

It depends on the teacher of course, but they don't really care if you're listening to something as long as it's not disturbing others, and it's off when the teacher's teaching, some teachers even allow us to have them on during tests since some ppl can only concentrate w/ music on. The admin however, doesn't really like it because of the whole "don't bring valuables to school!" thing... overall tho, Yes.
i don't think my school knows what mp3 players are, but it'll change soon (my master plan

My school is a private school so they don't let you bring it to classes but you can bring it to the school
yeah.....we can....and we pretty much can listen to them any time we want....but if you do it during class, the teach will ask you to remove it...and put it away....

They are very lenient about electronic devices here. Just as long as they dont disrupt the rest of the class, but there are a few teachers who can be real hard asses.
They aren't allowed officially, but most of the teachers don't care. Most of the teachers have iPods themselves. There is only one jealous teacher that can't afford an iPod that doesn't allow them. He has some RCA player.

You can bring whatever you want to school, but you cant listen to them while the teacher is giving a lesson. During a work period though, its fine.

Same way here
...the college I go to doesn't really care what you do in class as long as you dont cause a distraction for the other students.

Jan 6 2005, 02:40
College is pretty lenient on those kind of things but some professors will get on your case about it
High School on the other hand are strict at least in my experience, we could have them out of class sure but never in class while class is in session

well at my HS, the only way i can have it legally is if i have an iTalk so that im considered using it as a voice recorder. My drafting teacher lets me listen to my iPod if im doing drawings, he just doesnt want to hear what im hearing. I can have it like after school, but thats bout it. The teachers are nazi's bout electronics, im suprised they let me use my palm, lol
I've already graduated, but when I used to listen to my cassette walkman (lol) in class, I'd just wear long sleeves, run an earbud up it, and rest my head on my hand. I don't think they were allowed then, but no one found out about it...
In some classes, they let you listen to music as long as it doesn't disturb people around you. Only in classes where you do work on the computer though (i.e. Computer Science, Computer Arts), not when the teacher's teaching a lesson.

Jan 6 2005, 16:09
well im in college so they dont care...
Hankyone
Jan 6 2005, 16:15
yea, alot of ppl use them to put their work on
They don't care about us 6th formers but "normal" school goers aren't allowed them in or out of lesson
we're allowed to have them, just not allowed to use them in school. but some teachers don't care.

Jan 6 2005, 20:17
not in class, but during out free periods we can use them... although the staff memeber tht controls our year moans about them and everything
its not so bad for us 6thyears, but younger years get a hard time of it.
I take my laptop in, for study during class and gaming in free periods which is not supposed to happen but it does
not allowed them in school but some teachers let us listen while we work
flyonthewall
Jan 6 2005, 20:47
not for or during exams... but we can have them all we want... we are, after all, in college/university
Fedorpheux
Jan 6 2005, 20:49
my school doesnt care, but teachers kinda get bad if you listen to it in class without asking or something....but between classes and such is totally fine
i'm still saving up to get my H340

Jan 6 2005, 21:07
Im in same school as bingham. and the same result as him..
Our admins know what a MP3 player is but are still idiotic enough to have a wired network over 500 computers all around the school, only the teachers have a Wi-Fi network

If my principal sees headphones around your neck, Your Suspended for a day.
Tada, frickin idiots in my school system.
Probably 1/4 of the students here bring there's to school, and since its college, they don't care about you listening to it (atleast that's what my friend does during class); you're paying for it, and if you don't do anything but listen to your music device, then you deserve to fail.
Yes, but depends on the class/teacher.

Jan 6 2005, 21:21
well since im in college they dont really care, and most people are too stupid to notice anyways. like we arent allowed to connect our laptops to the "secure" network but that doesnt stop me from unplugging the cable from a library workstation and cloning the mac on my laptop

so dumb they dont even question it. i tell them its satellite. lol

'tis cool......
I pretty much help the teachers out sometimes with IT help so all the rules dont apply

The other day my science teacher came over, looked over my shoulder and I was on MSN on my PDA with my phone on my desk and she didn't care......
Its that and a mix of I know the school regulations and can bend them quite well

we can use them whenever we please, but i am attending a university...
