Skin Completed



Begun working on this skin this morning and doing pretty good.

Got inspired by the Longhorn MSN Skin and decided to make a winamp skin to at least nearly match it.

And this is my result so far. This is basicly how it´s gonna look. Depends on which updates i will be doing. All suggestions are welcome.

Make the top a bit more attractive by shrinking it down to a fraction of that size. Its way too big to be proportioned to the current size of the skin. As for the stop, play, pause, etc buttons, use the same style you have for the 'minimize/close' buttons. have the play be the same size of the " X " and the stop, pause, song back, song foward buttons be the same size of the " - " button.

Appreciate all your comments. As you all have requested it will be smaller, just made it that big to start with so i don´t have to remove things all the time to test if one thing fits better on another spot or anything like that.

Making a good progress right now. Sliders all buttons and such are now there, not right bitmaps but they work and i am going to getting everything into the skin and then skin the parts.

Still no suggestion for a caption text?

The Main Window is about 95% done. volume bar,shuffle and repeat buttons left to make look better.
But now the skin is fully functional (except the equalizer) so I thought that now that it actually work i can release to you guys so you can test it.

And then i´ll release another when i´m done. The things that are left are to skin the playlist, make an equalizer, skin the video window and skin the Media Library if I have the time.

I´ve got 2 webspaces to host this file on but none of them seem to work. So if anybody can host this file please tell me. For the moment i can send it to you all via email and MSN Messenger.

You should weaken the color of the "song title bar." Dunno, its just me. Looks great.

The timer seems oddly out of place up in the "titlebar" region like that.

@ Acid - gonna try a few other ways of that hole visualisation/songticker window. Maybe get a "LCD" looking background ???

@ bangbang023 - It´s just a temporary position mainly becuase i have no other place to put it yet . Gonna try a few variations on that also.

A mockup of an eventual playlist.
Made it pretty simple, the meaning of this playlist would be that you don´t would need the main window open cause you have all buttons on the playlist.

So what are yur opinions concerning this? The graphics is not very attractive at the moment but that shall be worked on.

You wouldn't need the Playlist buttons again. Red/blue isn't really a great match either. Looks good though.

The playlist looks ok, but those buttons on top don't flow with the simple elegance of the rest of the skin

At the moment i am making different layout´s of the playlist, also working on main window, fixing bugs, trying different layouts etc.


What do you all think about this?

that looks very good, but the time font seems off and I'm not sure in what way. It's only my opinion, though.

bangbang023 - can you recommend a place? cause ei cant get it too look good , and I´ve noticed through my member months you have very good taste for style.

Actually, I think the placement is good, but the font itself seems "unfitting". Maybe something a little bolder and a slightly bluer color.

Sometimes i purely just hate my winamp . Gotta figure out why it aint changing fonts. Don´t know how much more that will be done during this week becuase i don´t know how many times this week i´m gonna stay in my apartment where i study or take the bus home. But I estimate a fully functional playlist will be ready this weekend.

I got it! Ok, first make the visualization barrs just a tad, and I mean just a tad, bit lighter in shade. Secondly, the Timer font needs to be a slightly brighter blue and a little rounder.

You may also want to put either a very faint inner shadow or an inner stroke to the volume slider background.

I´m home again so time to go deep inside these XML codes and try to figure out why this things don´t work

Ok neowinians. There is not long until final version of this skin is to be released.

The playlist is now fully skinned *ugh*
Only some positioning and small graphics part left. This will be completed in a few hours.

And watch out becuase tomorrow an extremely nice skin will be started which graphics are done by the creator of Luna Element. Keep your eyes open
