Hi all,

I was just wondering:
If I have an iPod that has been formatted for the PC (and works with iTunes, acts as a portable disk drive and so on), what happens if I plug it into a Mac?

Will the Mac recognise it as an iPod?
Will the Mac be able to store files (not necessarily mp3's) on it? For example I wish to put Word documents or Office files on the iPod and transfer them to a PC.

Can anyone tell me if the reverse is possible too? Can I put excel spreadsheets from explorer and store them on my iPod and hook it up to a Mac, then copy over the excel files?

I don't wish to use the iPod in conjunction with iTunes (Mac) for music or to sync libraries but I was just wondering about the portable disk drive feature. Thanks for any help guys smile.gif

Mac can recognize it fine with iTunes as long as it is formatted for PC. I dont think it works vice versa though.

Sorry I think you misread what I was trying to say.

If my PC formatted iPod is connected to a Mac, can I copy "Mac-created files" (eg documents created from Office:Mac, file types that are compatible on the PC) onto the iPod and have it show up in Windows Explorer (on a PC)?

Edit thanks for that Inertia! yes.gif

I don't see why not, the Mac should be able to read it as a normal Windows FAT32 disk.
