iPod Loungelook under Gear Guide
I got the Sennheiser HeadMax PMX60 (Neck-Worn) from a friend on my birthday, lovin' it in combination with my iPod. Excellent sound quality! But they're black...

Which Sony's do you have? A cheap solution, from Sony, are the v150's. If you want even more sound for the price, look at Koss.

I want headphones though, not earphones.
You want a white headphone?

The Sony MDR-EX71 comes in white and it's a great earbud.
I dunno about headphones, read up here and see what they recommend:
http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/index.php? .
Sennheiser PX200, Sony Eggos, Koss PortaPro (I own these, it broke... but it was awesome while it still worked), Grado SR series, Senn HD series just to name some. Different headphones are suited for different tastes. Your best bet is to actually try out the headphone before you buy it.
You should note that iPod won't be able to drive more powerful headphones, so you might want to consider investing in a portable amp as well.
Why not earbuds though? Big headphones kind of destroy one of iPod great sides, portability.

earbuds don't work in my ears, the apple ones hurt, and they just fall out, i don't know if i'm doing something wrong, or they just don't fit?

Youre not alone. You should try other earphones though. Apple In-Ears, Shure E2c, Sony MDREX71SL.

+these+ look cool, any of you tried em? i'm just worried they wouldn't fit, so i couldn't use them, and then i couldn't return them! grrr.
Lol, Gunbuster. Yeah are these sony's good? I hear they're awesome, but dono if they'd fit.
I must be the only person who likes the iPod earphones... I think they sound great... but then I'm not really into having bass up high which I hear is a failing of the iPod earphones.
The EX71 comes with 3 different silicon tips (s,m,l), so one of them ought to fit. From what I've heard, the EX51/71s are the most comfortable earbuds/headphones out there. Once they're in, you won't feel them.
The EX71 is a really good compliment for the iPod. It is unmatched in its range when it comes to bass, so that makes up for the pathetic bass/EQ settings of the iPod.
If you're not using a remote, also consider the Sharp MD33. It has better overall sound quality, but the total cord length adds up to ~1.5m.
