Full Version: Force phone to use 1900

I live in an area where the signal for my GSM phone is 850MHz, but I believe there are some 1900MHz signals also. If I buy a phone that does not 850, can I force the phone to use the 1900 band? There are some nice phone choices on ebay, but they are listed for 900/1800/1900. Thanks for the help.

Not really if you want it to use another band you would have to get a dual or tri band phone.....you cant really force it thru common means.

I have a quad band phone 850/900/1800/1900 and I can't force it to use any of those freqs, it just chooses them authomatically. Presumingly depending on signal strength. tongue.gif

Why would you want to force only 1900? 850 is better for building penetration and if your provider is running only 850, they most likely have the towers spaced out properly for this.
